Qualifications

  • Valid Arkansas teaching license with four (4) years of classroom teaching experience

  • Training and expertise in coaching models and implementation techniques

  • Experience as a Math Teacher in grades 1-4

Contract 190 Days (1 year contract, 2 year maximum)

Job Description

This position of Academic Mathematics Interventionist works alongside the building leadership team to facilitate mathematics assessments and develop mathematics intervention plans for students. The Mathematics Interventionist will confer with staff, administrators, parents and others. The interventionist provides continuous progress monitoring (data analysis) related to mathematics intervention plans and other evidence based practices for students. The interventionist demonstrates positive interpersonal skills, cooperative teamwork, multi-agency coordination, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. The interventionist delivers targeted mathematics intervention services to students struggling to meet grade-level proficiency.

Job Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with the building leadership team, perform the following:

  • Support and participate in the effective implementation of the Response to Instruction and Intervention (RTI2) framework

  • To collaborate with stakeholders to create effective mathematics intervention programs

  • Ensure appropriate data records are collected and maintained on student growth and performance in mathematics

  • To provide consultation with teachers and administrators on mathematical proficiency.

  • To facilitate brainstorming sessions with teams of teachers, parents and administrators regarding mathematical growth areas and interventions.

  • Participate in instructional team meetings to identify and support Tier II mathematics interventions

  • Participate in School Intervention Team meetings to identify and support Tier III mathematics interventions

  • Maintain a current knowledge of mathematics intervention practices, building procedural fluency from conceptual understanding, mathematical thinking progressions, and related areas

  • Maintain confidentiality of all student information

  • Meet regularly with the Director of Student Services

  • Willing to participate in district professional development.

  • Support and promote the district's mission, vision, values and the implementation of the strategic plan

  • Perform other duties as assigned
