Plumas Unified School District has a full-time Math teacher vacancy at Quincy Jr/Sr High School in Quincy, CA beginning the 2024/25 school year. Extending from the community of Chester in the north, which sits on the shores of beautiful Lake Almanor, to Portola in the east, Plumas County offers a high quality of life. Plumas County is recognized for its outstanding fishing, camping, water sports, golf, and other recreational opportunities. Portola, at an elevation of 4,850', is situated on the eastern border of Plumas County.

It is intersected by the Middle Fork of the Feather River, a National wild river, and Highway 70, the lowest pass through the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Reno, Nevada, is an easy 1 hour drive to the southeast. The Lakes Basin Recreation Area, approximately 20 miles from Portola, holds dozens of natural lakes offering camping, fishing, boating, hiking, and a number of mountain resorts.

Most major Tahoe ski resorts are approximately a 1-½ hour drive away. East of Portola lays the expanse of Sierra Valley, occupied by cattle ranches and other farming enterprises. Lake Davis and Frenchman lake, both within a half hour drive of Portola, provide trout fishing.
