Set in the tranquil valley of Solano County, an area rich with agriculture, Native American history and wine production, Solano Community College is ideally located along the I-80 corridor between San Francisco and Sacramento within minutes of the Napa/Sonoma Valley. Solano Community College is seeking a pool of qualified applicants for possible temporary part-time teaching assignments in the mathematics department. In general, we may have a need in any mathematics subject during any semester including summer. The start months are August, January, and June in each year. These positions are filled on an as needed basis and are on-going recruitments. Assignments may include day, evening and weekend courses. The district may cancel classes or change instructors as enrollment needs are determined. Skilled candidates who can demonstrate a variety of teaching strategies are strongly encouraged to apply.

We anticipate multiple faculty hirings and are actively looking for mathematics faculty with experience teaching many areas of mathematics.

Instructors who are qualified to teach online or desire to teach a course using an online modality must attend a rigorous training course, design an ADA approved CANVAS delivered course, and have the course approved by the curriculum committee prior to the scheduling deadlines for any specific semester. In general this must be finalized five to eight months before the semester begins.

Paid office hours are available to adjunct faculty in fall and spring semesters who teach a 6 unit assignment or more.Teach classes in the mathematics department.

Provide instruction in accordance with established course outlines and expectations; create and follow a course syllabus; inform students about course requirements; prepare and grade assignments and examinations in a timely manner; meet administrative timelines and submit completed and required documents and reports; maintain required student attendance and scholastic records; and perform assessment of student learning outcomes.Master's in mathematics or applied mathematics OR Bachelor's in either of the above AND Master's in statistics, physics, or mathematics education OR the equivalent OR

Possess a valid California Community College Instructor Credential authorizing service in the discipline (please note that issuance of CC Credentials was discontinued in July of 1990; they are no longer available).

If you do not have the degree then you must request an equivalency review and submit conclusive supporting documents at the time of application. Equivalency is defined as possessing the general education for the degree and the major coursework for the degree. The equivalency request form is included in the application.

NOTE: All degrees must be from accredited institutions.

The ideal candidate will be adept in the use of instructional technology, be familiar with college level transferable curriculum, and be interested in joining a campus community that promotes diversity, equity, respect, and inclusion.

The successful candidate is a broadly trained individual who possesses both depth and breadth of knowledge in major areas of mathematics; has an approachable personality; uses multiple teaching methods that include critical thinking and problem-solving strategies; and adheres to college academic requirements.

The successful candidate can demonstrate that they encourage learning; are sensitive to students from diverse cultural, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds; encourage all students in the classroom including those with variable learning ability; can accommodate students with disabilities; and participate in professional growth activities.

Finally, the successful applicant must be able to lift and carry materials weighing up to 20 pounds.
