The Perinatal Unit, nestled within the Office of Family and Community Health Improvement (OFCHI), is dedicated to enhancing perinatal, maternal, and child health outcomes. We're seeking a passionate and experienced Maternal Health Innovations Coordinator (HSC3) to join our team.

About the Role: As the Maternal Health Innovations Coordinator, you'll play a pivotal role in reducing preventable maternal mortality and morbidity across the state. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Maternal Health Strategic Planning: Lead the research and development of a comprehensive statewide Maternal Health Strategic Plan (MHSP).

  • Collaboration and Partnership: Work closely with the Maternal Health Task Force and community advisory groups to ensure diverse perspectives are integrated into planning efforts.

  • Grant Management: Oversee the Maternal Health Innovations Grant, including coordinating the submission process, managing budgets, and co-authoring grant reports.

  • Contract Management: Support ongoing perinatal quality improvement initiatives by managing contracts with partners, including Tribal health organizations and birthing hospitals.

  • Partner Engagement: Collaborate with partners across various sectors, including the Office of Rural Health, Washington State Hospital Association, and Department of Children Youth and Families, to improve perinatal health outcomes.

  • Policy Advocacy: Advocate for policy and systems changes aligned with the goals of the MHSP to promote equitable access to maternal health services.

  • Education and Outreach: Conduct presentations and disseminate materials to obstetric providers, birthing hospitals, and professional organizations to promote evidence-based practices and interventions.

Work Location

The duty station of this Flexible/Hybrid position is in Tumwater, WA. Flexible/Hybrid positions offer multiple work location options to choose from, including telework (remote work) options and/or utilizing the Department of Health's drop-in workstations. Required Qualifications

The experience described below could have been gained concurrently and acquired through paid or unpaid activities. Please make sure to highlight your relevant experience in your cover letter, resume, and/or applicant profile.

  • Option 1: Six (6) years of project management experience in a health services program, public or business administration, health care administration, or a related field, including two (2) years working with maternal/perinatal health.

OR

  • Option 2: Bachelor's degree in public health, community health, health education, health promotion, or related field, AND three (3) years of project management experience in a health promotion program or health services program related to maternal/perinatal health.

OR

  • Option 3: Master's degree in public health, community health, health education, health promotion, or related field, AND one (1) year of project management experience in a health promotion program or health services program related to maternal/perinatal health.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience working with perinatal health systems or programs.

  • Experience working with pregnant and parenting populations.

  • Experience facilitating meetings or workgroups.

  • Demonstrated ability to integrate health equity into public health.

  • Experience developing strategic planning documents or plans.

  • Experience collaborating with or working for community-based organizations.

  • Ability to model and facilitate the development and integration of cultural, ethnic, and gender sensitivity and competence.

  • Ability to develop and manage contracts.

  • Ability to actively participate to promote a cohesive and results-oriented team.

  • Intermediate-level experience using the following Microsoft Office software:

  • Excel to create and manipulate large or complex spreadsheets and create and format charts and graphs.

  • Word to create, format, and edit tables, columns, and charts; import data and sort table data; and insert and format sections, and create headers and footers.

  • PowerPoint to create, edit, format, and run slideshow presentations, including previewing and printing slides, speaker notes, and handouts.
