Department OB/GYN Physicians Job Summary Denver Health Medical Center is recruiting for a Maternal Fetal Medicine Physician to join our Ob/Gyn team.

    Our MFM team offers specialized obstetrical care to pregnant patients and fetus, who may be considered moderate to high-risk, from conception (or sometimes pre-conception) through the post-partum period. Provide consultation to physicians and advance practice providers (CNM, NP) who care for pregnant patients in the Denver health network. Denver Health Hospital is the safety net hospital for the city and county of Denver.

    The OB/GYN Department provides full-scope obstetric and gynecologic services. The focus of our care is on the underserved populations of the city and county of Denver. As such, we serve patients who are primarily government insured, or without insurance, and who tend to be more medically and socially complex than at other institutions in the Denver metro area.

    In terms of obstetric volume, the hospital performs approximately 4,000 deliveries per year. At any time, approximately half of the obstetric patients receive their care in the OB/GYN clinics staffed by the OB/GYN physicians and Advanced Practice Providers of the Department, while the other half receive their care in outlying community clinics staffed by Family Medicine providers. Denver Health is a teaching affiliate of the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus.

    Physicians in the OB/GYN Department have regular teaching responsibilities for residents and medical students, in both clinical and didactic settings. A Maternal and Fetal Medicine physician in the Department is expected to contribute to and guide the care of patients with high-risk conditions in pregnancy. Additionally, based on the traditional model of Denver Health, Maternal and Fetal Medicine physicians participate in low-risk obstetric care responsibilities.

    These include, but are not limited to: Attending and precepting High-Risk OB Clinic Attending and precepting Diabetic OB Clinic Participating in the direct care or consultation regarding obstetric patients with substance use disorder Reading obstetric ultrasound, including providing consultation for abnormal findings Collaborating with our genetic counselor for consultation Performing specialized obstetric procedures, including amniocentesis and cervical cerclage Participating in multidisciplinary care conferences for complex patients Attending on Labor and Delivery, including supervision of residents; consultation for CNM and FM colleagues; performing vaginal deliveries, operative vaginal deliveries, and Cesarean sections; care of antepartum and postpartum patients Providing consultation for high-risk patients Interested Applicants Should Submit CV and Cover Letter to: Aaron Ortiz, Manager of Provider Recruitment Aaron.ortizdhha.org Essential Functions : Collect, record, and maintain patient information, such as medical histories, reports, or examination results. (25%) Perform cesarean sections or other surgical procedures as needed to preserve patients' health and deliver babies safely. (15%) Participate in or support education and research. (10%) Education : Doctorate Degree Graduate of an accredited medical school Required Post Graduate Diploma or Certificate Program ABOG certified Obstetrics and Gynecology Required and Post Graduate Diploma or Certificate Program ABOG board-eligible or certified Maternal fetal Medicine Required Work Experience : 1-3 years Directly related experience Licenses : OBGYN-Obstetrics and Gynecology Certification

  • State Medical Board Required BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities : Knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles, procedures and techniques. Thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment.

    Able to effectively manage and direct medical staff support activities while providing quality medical care. Able to receive detailed information through oral communications; express or exchange ideas by verbal communications. Excellent written and verbal communications, listening, and social skills.

    Able to interact effectively with people of varied educational, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds, skill levels and value systems. Performs in a tactful and professional manner. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

    Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Computer skills required.
