  • Guide mechanical engineers to select appropriate materials and design for corrosion

  • Work with structural engineers to assure analysis is performed with proper allowables

  • Write process and material specifications

  • Write composite material characterization and equivalency test plans and reports

  • Trouble shoot material related manufacturing issues

  • Work with FAA DERs to assure flammability regulations (14CFR23 and 25) are met

  • Coordinate with quality to assure proper flammability testing is performed

  • Develop test lab to perform equivalency and allowables testing


  • Punctuality to work each day and prepared to work scheduled work hours

  • Other duties as assigned


  • Responsible for thoughtful adherence to all SNC Policies, Procedures, and Compliance regulations (internal and external)


  • Requires a BS in Related Field.

  • 5+ years of experience as a materials science or materials engineer in the aerospace field

  • Experience writing test plans, conducting tests and writing test reports (including flammability and characterization)

  • General knowledge of MIL-HDBK-17 and AR-3/19 procedures for material equivalency and characterization

  • Knowledge of metallic materials including aluminum and steel

  • Corrosion prevention

VIEW JOBS 8/5/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-11-03T00:00 Summary of Major Responsibilities The Senior Materials Management Associate II will lead a variety of Materials Management functions including purchasing, inventory management, packaging, shipping, receiving and distribution of goods and supplies, planning, cycle counting, SAP material management including receipt of materials, purchase requisitions, and material movements, training, and internal inventory requests for goods and supplies, forecasting, and expiration analysis. This position will serve as a key representative of the Materials Management department on various projects and tasks. This position will also serve as a subject matter expert as issues arise. This position will establish defined protocols and procedures and will lead in developing and documenting new procedures for Operations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities * May receive, verify, inventory or deliver incoming materials. * May facilitate shipment of outgoing materials or products. * Lead the forecasting of raw materials, finished goods and work in process. * Act as subject matter expert on inventory control and planning related topics or issues. * Maintain inventory and associated records for raw materials, intermediates, disposables, consumables, reagents and spare parts. * Purchase materials to maintain designated inventory levels. * Prepare quality records as directed according to standard operating procedures or study protocols. * May assist with packaging or re-configure materials for staging or use in testing laboratories or production areas, following approved procedures. * May provide support for inventory control of non-conforming materials. * Oversee work order creation and inventory management in ERP system. * May handle products using material handling equipment. * Provide training as needed to associates. * Develop, edit and provide input for policies, processes, and procedures. May serve as key review in Manager's absence. * Develop, process and maintains purchase order requisitions. * Oversee input on process improvements by following the required change control processes. Coordinate activities across departments. Assist other Materials Management Associates on the proper change control process. * Investigate and recommend solutions to backorder situations. * Act as key representative for Materials Management department on inter-departmental projects. * Ability to accurately follow procedures or with minimal direction. * Proven ability to work effectively in team situations, cross-functionally as well as independently. * Excellent oral, written communication and interpersonal skills. * Strong documentation skills and attention-to-detail necessary in a GMP and CAP environment. * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. * Ability to adapt to a quickly changing work environment with rapidly changing needs and requests. * Support and comply with the company's safety and environmental procedures. * Uphold company mission and values through accountability, innovation, integrity, quality, and teamwork. * Support and comply with the company's Quality Management System policies and procedures. * Regular and reliable attendance. * Ability to work designated schedule. * Ability to work nights and/or weekends. * Ability to lift up to 50 pounds for approximately 20% of a typical working day. * Ability to work seated for approximately 80% of a typical working day. Ability to work standing for approximately 20% of a typical working day. * Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 80% of a typical working day. * Ability to grasp with both hands; pinch with thumb and forefinger; turn with hand/arm; reach above shoulder height. * Ability to work on a computer and phone simultaneously. * Ability to use a telephone through a headset. * Ability to work in a warehouse for extended periods of time. * Ability to work with hazardous or flammable materials (e.g. chemicals, radioactivity, electrical equipment) so as not to endanger oneself or others. * Ability to work at elevated heights. * Ability to comply with any applicable personal protective equipment requirements. * Ability and means to travel between Madison locations. * Ability to travel 5% of working time away from work location, may include overnight/weekend travel. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in business, operations or related field; or high school degree/general education diploma and 4 years of relevant experience in lieu of Bachelor's degree. * 6+ years of experience in a manufacturing or material handling related operation. * 3+ years of experience with database, spreadsheets and statistical programs. * 3+ years of experience utilizing SAP for inventory management or other ERP systems. * Proficient in basic software applications including Microsoft Office. * Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship. * Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation. Preferred Qualifications * Possession of a valid driver's license, no more than two moving violations in the past 36 months, and no unresolved license revocation or suspension issues. * Experience in a biotech manufacturing environment, preferably in a GMP and/or ISO13485 environment. * Ability to be forklift certified. * Mentoring or leadership experience. * APICS certification.
