We are looking for a skilled Research Scientist to join our Materials Science team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the research and development of our polymer materials.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Apply principles and know-how from polymer science and materials fabrication to understand structure / property relationships
Independently design, conduct and analyze experiments
Develop new formulations for improved performance and reduced cost by sourcing and screening alternative raw ingredients
Perform cost-performance analysis for various formulations developed
Keep a pulse on new commercial product offerings that may be of benefit to our technology platforms.
Regularly communicate externally with vendors to understand new commercial product offerings, procure samples, and evaluate at lab-scale in our technologies
Communicate results, conclusions and recommendations to colleagues and leadership
Acquire and maintain relevant technical expertise in material science, polymer characterization and biomaterials
Mentor research associates and work closely with other researchers in the group
Experience, Skills & Knowledge:
Advanced degree in Materials Science and Engineering or Polymer Science
6-8 years of experience in polymer materials, polymer physics, morphology and rheology
The candidates should have a thorough understanding of structure/property relationships of materials
Ability to mentor researchers and lead a research project independently
Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
Goal oriented, motivated, and ability to work independently
Excellent communication skills and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
Experience with processing polymer films and coatings for textile applications (nice to have)
Experience with formulation development for polymer coatings systems (nice to have)
