Position: Materials Planner
Duration: 6+ Months Contract
Summary of essential functions:
The Material Planner is responsible for the analysis of purchase requisitions and purchase orders, planning of orders to be placed, issuance of purchase orders to suppliers and the sourcing of parts as required. Additional responsibilities include forecast creation based upon parts consumption data, planning for known seasonal variances and highlighting of new usage trends to management.
Must be able to find creative ways to resolve problems yet recognize when a problem must be escalated. Monitors safety stock levels and adjustments by part number as needed. Generates status reports and works on special projects as assigned.
Possesses excellent interpersonal communication skills with the ability to interface comfortably with all levels in the organization. Must have superior organizational and prioritization skills and the ability to work independently to manage the day-to-day material responsibilities.
Specific duties, activities and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
1.Plans all purchased parts and makes decisions to release, firm, cancel, or defer work based upon current inventory versus demand. Responsible for maintaining appropriate inventory levels to support Mean Down Time (MDT) contractual requirements.
2.Places and maintains purchase orders and works with suppliers to expedite or defer materials as dictated by changes in internal and external customer requirements.
Works independently with suppliers to manage material supply to ensure on time deliveries.
3.Initiates problem resolutions with Accounts Payable related to purchase orders, invoicing and pricing.
4.Maintains accurate purchase order information in the SAP system. Modifies order release due dates, quantities, and closes purchase orders, etc, based on planning demand.
5.Maintains Material Master by creating, extending and updating material master records.
6.Work in concert with Service personnel to streamline product to customers in a Just-In-Time (JIT) environment.
7.Researches local vendors that would offer more competitive pricing and better on-time deliveries.
8.Communicate with Warehouse personnel to ensure timely receipts.
9.Communicates any supplier discrepancies to suppliers.
10. Arranges and expedites international shipments and assists with customs import/export documentation.
Support Aftermarket Supply Chain Manager in the creation of suggested order quantities and safety stock levels.
12. Assists in the forecasting activities and develops metrics to support and track in order to provide balance between appropriate inventory levels and customer needs.
13. Aid in creating and publishing of material performance metrics.
Travel, overtime and work hours other than Monday-Friday may be required.
15. Comply with and ensure department compliance with Company health, safety and environmental policies.
16. Comply with all applicable U.S. export control and security regulations.
