The Material Planner I is an active team member in planning and scheduling the delivery of material from suppliers to each of our global warehouses. This highly tactical position is responsible for monitoring the flow of buy and assembly items, guarantee availability of components in order to avoid material shortages, and assist with the management of inventory levels to meet our customer service and inventory targets.

Essential Functions / Major Responsibilities

  • Perform timely, cost-conscious procurement of production/inventory/MRO items.

  • Receive and analyze requisitions to determine quantity, specifications and delivery requirements.

  • Assist with analysis when actuals deviate from established plan, including root cause and respective action(s) to correct and/or sustain.

  • Provide supply forecasts to suppliers and internal customers.

  • Ensure optimal inventory and safety stock levels are maintained for assigned items.

  • Maintain proactive shortage identification and management - help flag root causes and corrective actions.

  • Expedite deliveries to meet and exceed scheduled critical requirements.

  • Maintain material plan at the time fence to ensure continuity of supply.

  • Coordinate cross-functionally for solutions when parts cannot be delivered as promised.

  • Analyze material and capacity availability to provide customer promise dates for sales orders.

  • Maintains item master lead time information, total current demand by product family and priorities for assigned items.

  • Interface with required functional groups to resolve challenging delivery requirements.

  • Communicate forecasts and replenishment plans to organizational buyers.

  • Consistently review open requirements, monitor vendor performance, and escalate when necessary.

  • Communicate problems relating to delivery, quality or to stakeholders and resolve in a timely manner.

  • Ensure up-to-date ABC classification is maintained for planning, and other key inputs into ERP.

Specific Job Requirements

  • Maintain product knowledge in terms of options, substitutions, critical functions/components, etc.

  • Broad working knowledge and experience with ISO procedures.

  • Maintain basic knowledge of supplier processes and capabilities.

  • Possess strong customer service orientation and must provide dedicated support of internal and external customer requirements.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate to various audiences effectively.

  • Team-oriented and have the ability to work cohesively with others.

  • Strong attention to detail.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • 1-2 years of buying/planning experience

  • Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • APICS (CPIM) or equivalent certification a plus

  • Oracle or relevant ERP software experience preferred

  • Basic knowledge of supplier processes and capabilities

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications required

  • Experience in operations, inventory management, MRP and lean manufacturing processes preferred

  • Understanding of Kanban and Min/Max systems preferred

  • Local candidates preferred.

Position's Goal To manage the supply, capacity and demand of a building, campus or region portfolio of space for a specific client at the business unit level. Portfolio of client's sites located in Canada, North America, and Latin America. Deliverable Role/Responsibilities Within the portfolio, can answer: how much space is currently available, what are the workplace conditions, and what are headcount projections by business unit? Specifically, the responsibilities include: * Summarized findings and recommendations for action or consideration by the client; * The status of major initiatives affecting planning decisions for the sites; * Facilitates and/or resolves planning issues identified in the customer planning meetings; * Ensures planning is aligned with corporate guidelines, and that all scenarios maximize use of space; * Recommends, educates and enforces space policies/standards, procedures and protocols and notifies client of customer requested exceptions; * Responsible for Business Unit space validations and FM Audits (including seat assignments, occupancy, vacancy, labs & equipment) * Measure, monitor and report cost saving and value added contributions * Assist in developing site-specific Planning Strategies with Senior Leadership. * Assemble, update and report the top-down and bottoms-up seat count projections collected at the group-level for an annual planning horizon and work with the client to reconcile discrepancies with tops-down projections * Track and report actual seat demand at the group level; * Report actual seat demand versus projected seat demand at the building level * Compare over time, actual seat demand versus projected seat demand at the building and business unit level * As necessary, participate in project and move coordination planning meetings; * Reviews building specific stacking plans; * Reports the current supply and capacity, and forecasts inventory changes * Leads process improvement initiatives and implements best practices tailored to meet clients objectives and to enable our team to be more efficient. Interaction To ensure accurate reporting of information, and foster critical relationships between various individuals and organizations, communication channels will exist with: * Move Coordination team to hand off approved block plans and be a resources as they develop migration plan * Business Unit leadership to collect headcount forecasts, resolve headcount forecast discrepancies between leadership's numbers and those collected at the group-level; * Corporate Finance group to gather Top-Down projections * Corporate Real Estate to review and resolve planning forecasts, needs, concerns, and issues; * Collaborate with Project Management and Facility Management and leverage FM teams to conduct facility audits * Project management to review stacking strategies and to provide workload forecast related to project moves that are planned to occur based on occupancy plans/strategy. * Other Occupancy Planners to ensure cross campus/portfolio strategy plans are developed. Technology Proficient Ability to utilize software to support planning solutions and communicate ideas clearly with planning team and lines of businesses: * Proficient in AutoCAD to produce basic test-fits and square foot calculations * Proficient in Microsoft Excel i.e. (V-Lookups, cell calculations, etc.) * Ability to consolidate data and floor plans into Power Point for presentations to client and lines of business. * Strong ability to work in all of the Microsoft Office suite software technology Education / Yrs of Experience * Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Design or related field with a minimum of 5-7 years experience in a corporate environment. * Previous experience in space/occupancy planning at a strategic level, plus experience with interior office renovations.
