Job Summary and Mission:

The Materials Manager works under the supervision of the Plant Manager and will oversee the planning, procurement, storage, control, and distribution of materials and products according to company needs and customer requirements. He / she will be the primary liaison between Logistics, Customer Service, Manufacturing, and Finance to develop an executable plant that meets service and financial requirements.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage all plant location inventory including raw, semi, WIP, and finished goods to ensure inventory turns target is achieved monthly. Focus to minimize and eliminate excess and obsolete inventory.

  • Create and monitor reports on an ongoing basis for OTP, inventory, shipments, backorders, lead time, and forecast accuracy.

  • Develops routing and B.O.M information for products, including cost and material flow throughout manufacturing process. Ensure system integrity around these processes.

  • Maintain all material master data including safety stock, lot size, lead time, product group, scrap rates, delivery times, and costs.

  • Coordinate the SIOP initiatives and goals of GLS pertaining to lead times, production, fill rates, OTP, etc… and acts as liaison between the CSRs and sales representatives.

  • Direct shop floor by balancing production output with sales to ensure operational alignment and monitor to the forecast. Collaborate with manufacturing to identify and resolve capacity constraints.

  • Ensure execution of monthly plant production plan using monthly GLS forecast and custom solutions orders by coordinating with plant manager and manufacturing manager.

  • Directs and leads the plant shipping and receiving team to ensure orders are received in and shipped out on time with no quality issues.

  • Maintains and ensures accuracy of the perpetual inventory system through monthly cycle counts on raw and finished goods.

  • Manages and monitors WIP throughout the manufacturing shop to ensure orders are started and finished on time.

  • Identifies opportunities to reduce costs throughout supply chain activities.

  • Works with suppliers and vendors to schedule delivery of materials and outsourced orders.

  • Ensure production order schedule adherence using SAP PPDS software.

Preferred Areas of Education, Certifications, and Skills:

§ Bachelor's degree strongly preferred

§ Desired candidate with supervisory skills and documented supervisory experience

§ 5 + years of experience in manufacturing including the areas of MRP, shop floor control and master scheduling.

§ An in depth understanding of functions and features of a computer based MRP systems (SAP desired) is highly desired.

§ Must have knowledge in routings, B.O.Ms, safety stocks, lot sizes, and reorder points.

§ Excellent interpersonal skills and the proven ability to work well with all levels of management and staff.

§ Excellent verbal communication, written communication, and problem-solving skills.

§ Proficient with inventory reporting systems.

§ Excellent analytical skills including proficient in Microsoft Office, PowerBI, Tableau, and Kinaxis

§ Excellent organizational and planning skills.
