The Materials Manger role is responsible for leading strategic planning activities related to materials management and inventory control in the manufacturing environment. This role will translate customer delivery requirements into material strategies and processes, focusing on cost-effective processing and optimizing customer satisfaction. The Materials Manager will be instrumental in the development and implementation of material management processes and best practices for all Potter Global Technologies manufacturing.

Essential Functions

  • Develop strategic inventory and planning vision for the company.

  • Key leadership in the monthly SIOP process.

  • Develop safety stock, minimum order quantities, and optimal production quantity strategies for raw materials, intermediates, and finished products to support SIOP planning. Partner with supply chain procurement to execute inventory reduction initiatives to meet target for inventory turns.

  • Monitor slow-moving and obsolete inventory and develop plans to deal with it accordingly.

  • Coordinate activities of multi-plant materials transfers to support both manufacturing and sales.

  • Drive best practices for inventory management and reporting.

  • Responsible for ensuring appropriate control mechanisms are in place to achieve on-time delivery of 98%+ and 99%+ cycle count accuracy.

  • Develop and lead the Master Planner team.

  • Maintain a cross-training program to ensure highly qualified backups for every function.

  • Collaborate with warehousing leadership (receiving, picking, and shipping) on best practices, policies, and procedures.

  • Drive a culture of operational excellence throughout the organization.

  • Manage raw material and finished goods master data settings as appropriate.

  • Review system requirements, manage shortages, and run material planning and inventory reports.

  • Serve as the subject matter expert in ERP system knowledge for the business.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.

  • In-depth knowledge of computerized integrated information systems (manufacturing, materials management, production planning, procurement, and distribution) and a superior understanding of manufacturing material flow in a plant.

  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access), TEAMS, Smartsheet, Tableau, and other planning tools as available.

  • Proactive change agent and possess leadership skills to build and maintain a team-oriented environment.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate staff and interact with various departments throughout the organization.

  • Possess strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work on multiple priorities at once.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of Materials/Supply Chain/ Scheduling experience.

  • Experience leading, training and developing a team.

  • APICS Certification or the willingness to obtain the certification in Supply Chain Management.

  • Experience with Epicor or similar ERP/MRP system.

  • Production planning experience using integrated business software.

  • Inventory management experience using integrated business software.

  • Willingness to attend Supply Chain continuous education seminars or class work as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management / Purchasing / Business, or MBA preferred.

Work Environment/Physical Demands/Travel

This job operates in a professional business office where standard office equipment is routinely used, such as computers, photocopy machines, fax machines, telephones and filing cabinets. This job also operates in a warehouse/manufacturing setting where various tools and equipment are used. This role must be able to stand, bend, stoop, kneel and exhibit good visual acuity to perform daily tasks. This position must be able to lift 50 pounds at times. Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities. This position may require you to travel based on business needs.

This is a full-time position, on-site at the manufacturing facility. The hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, 40 hours per week. An occasional shift in hours may be necessary to accommodate business needs.
