Role Description:

Directs and coordinates the tracking of customer orders through the company's processes and contracted processors by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate personnel. Directs and coordinate all purchasing activity for raw materials, purchased parts and MRO purchases.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates activities with department managers to make sure orders are processed in a timely fashion at each stage of production.

  • Communicates manufacture requirements to all departments.

  • Ensures and oversees cost effective purchasing.

  • Manages resources to produce timely and accurate production schedules.

  • Communicates and implements production schedules for all departments. Coordinates associated changes.

  • Oversees customer service activities including shipping, receiving, trucking .

  • Coordinates resources to administer orders/releases from receipt through successful completion.

  • Works with engineering to ensure effective material handling practices and cost effective container programs.

  • Works with estimating for the compilation and distribution of monthly sales projection reports and associated capacity data.

  • Directs and advises personnel on effective methods to drive down, eliminate or minimize premium freight occurrences.

  • Communicates premium freight expenditures to upper management and assist in coordinating associated interval corrective actions.

  • Ensures compliance with departmental budgets.

  • Manage any major lease contacts for equipment required for materials group. IE: trucks, HiLo's, small vans.

Work Environment

Work environment characteristics are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Employees also may be subject to certain environments such as working near loud moving mechanical parts.   • Office and plant floor environment.

Noise Level

The noise level in the working environment will be heavy with high traffic. Ear protection will be required.

Education/Experience/Certifications:

To effectively carry out duties and responsibilities in the job position the following education, experience, or certifications are preferred:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four year College or University.

Experience:

  • Five to ten years related experience in materials planning and/or training.

Certifications:

  • American Production and Inventory Control Society (preferred but not required).

Additional Skills Required:

To effectively carry out duties and responsibilities in the job position the following skills are required:

Computer skills:

  • Experience with basic computer systems.

Communication skills:

  • Speak effectively with fellow employees or customers.

  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, etc.

  • Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical skills:

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Other Skills:

  • Detail oriented.

  • Organized and able to meet deadlines while performing multiple duties.

  • Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
