Role Overview

This position manages a large department that supports a $1B aftermarket MRO.

As the materials manager, you will manage multiple teams led by supervisors in Materials and Logistics.

You'll lead the implementation of control systems, implements materials and inventory management strategies, and cost-reduction and improvement initiatives and direct long-term, complex projects.

Your Primary Responsibilities include:

  • Leads in the implementation of inventory and quality control systems to meet quality standards and operation schedules

  • Implements cost reduction and improvement initiatives to ensure that materials management and logistics deployment are efficient and cost effective

  • Reports inventory management results and proposed solutions to site and customer leadership

  • Implements materials and inventory management strategies to ensure that the business meets current and future production targets and quality standards

  • Directs projects to ensure operating objectives are met

  • Reviews configuration changes to evaluate impact on logistics deployment

  • Plans, schedules and manages the efficient movement of material from receiving, or the warehouse, to production control

  • Manages material inventory, supplier integration strategies and import/export controls

  • Manages customer owned property and the mutilation of it when necessary

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and 8 years' OR and Advanced degree and 6 years' experience that includes managing or supervising Materials and Logistics

Highly Preferred Qualifications:

  • Extensive Knowledge and Understanding of SAP

  • Skills:
    Process improvement, Project Management, Analyzing information, Strategic Planning, Verbal Communication, Informing Others, Working with contractors, Attention to Detail, Thoroughness, Dealing with Complexity

  • Previous experience as a Manager/Supervisor in the aviation industry, preferably in aviation after-market support business

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with key stakeholders to influence others in a diverse and dynamic work environment

  • Ability to meet commitments, balance and resolve conflicting priorities

  • Results focused work ethic to resolve issues in a timely manner

  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of SAP

  • Strong trouble shooting and problem solving skills

This is a rare opportunity for you to join our extraordinary customer service team at our large state of the art Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility in Columbus, GA. Are you a self-starter who thrives in a dynamic environment? If yes, we would love to hear from you! Your primary responsibilities include: * Provide in-house day-to-day customer operational support * Handle the flow of communication between the Customers and CEC * Plan and assist customer on-site visits to meet company policies and regulations * Execute Gate 0 (pre-induction) planning and deliverables * Collaborate on a regular basis with key departments: Operations, Engineering, Quality, Finance, Supply Chain * Meet time-sensitive deadlines and solve daily challenges with minimal oversight * Collaborate with site personnel to ensure compliance to all corporate policies Basic Qualifications * Bachelor's degree and at least 3 years OR a Master's degree with 1 years of experience * At least 1 year of customer support - highly preferred in a technical environment within production and/or manufacturing * U.S. Citizenship required due to government contracts Preferred Qualifications * ACE Associate, Six Sigma or Lean manufacturing * MRO experience * Strong technical aptitude * Excellent interpersonal / communication skills * Dedicated professional that helps develop the department and organization * Ability to meet commitments and resolve conflicting priorities * Experience working closely with cross-functional teams * Strong attention to detail and maintaining a high level of organization * Ability to adapt in an ever-changing environment * Excel, PowerPoint proficiency * Strong project management United Technologies Corporation is An Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
