Position: Materials Handler

Company: LISTA/Stanley Black & Decker

Location: Holliston, MA 01746

Summary:

  • Shake metal parts out of metal webs following proper procedures to place on carts

  • Push material carts to point of use

  • Load sheets of steel into the C6 load and unload station

  • Understand the difference of bur up vs. bur down after training

  • Ability to sort and stack parts by part number and production day on pallets and metal carts

  • Move to different work assignments as directed by group leader or manager

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds and over 35 lbs. with apparatus assistance.

  • Push or pull 300 lbs. with the proper equipment.

  • Highly repetitive use of hands.

  • Most activity requires standing and movement throughout the work area.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Ability to read, write, perform basis math calculations, and communicate clearly.

  • One to two years' manufacturing/production experience required. Product knowledge a plus.

  • Flexible to accept changes in work assignments as required to meet customer requirements.

  • Versatile and capable of performing various work assignments.

Working Conditions/Environment:

Must be capable of sitting, standing, and/or walking for extended periods of time. Required to work in a physical environment that is subject to limited temperature extremes (seasonal heat and drafts). Exposure to general manufacturing environment.

Work Schedule:
1st shift Monday-Friday (7:00a.m - 3:00p.m)

May require overtime during high volume business need.

VIEW JOBS 5/15/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-08-13T00:00 Job Description Position: Materials Handler / Fork Truck Driver Company: LISTA/Stanley Black & Decker Location: Holliston, MA 01746 Summary: * Position requires ability to properly operate a fork truck (stand-up) * Handles all materials safely and efficiently that are received from the fabrication department. * Coordinates the movement and flow of materials into the department. * Performs drilling and basic welding on special orders before the material is handled on the conveyor line. Assembles, hoists, and lifts materials onto conveyor line. * After washing, painting, and baking is completed (by the machines and painters), remove the materials from conveyor lines, organize it, and deliver it to the assembly department. * Performs all activities with attention to quality and assists in ensuring an appropriate flow of material through the department. * Works in all areas of the department that involve material handling and preventative maintenance. Responsibilities/Essential Functions: Material Coordination: * Learns all fabricated parts and materials used in production (over 100). * Reviews job orders received from group leader; determines the materials and parts to be pulled from the staging area. * Carefully counts and procures the necessary materials from the staging area. Uses a hand truck to move pieces. * Maintains a stock list of materials needed. Contacts the appropriate department to ensure materials are fabricated in a timely basis. * Uses computers to inspect orders. Pre-Assembly: * If the job order requires, drill holes in fabricated material and/or welds (tig welder). Material Handling - Incoming: * Reviews job orders to ensure that the correct material is being processed. Works closely with the material coordinator and fork truck operator to ensure proper parts are available and that the proper sequence is being followed. * Performs basic assembly using pneumatic screw gun. Gathers screws and other parts; places housing on hoist and assembles. * Changes hooks on conveyor line to prepare for different material. * Places, lifts, or hoists different sized material on to the hooks on the conveyor line. Ensures that materials are safely placed. * Determines when a color change is necessary and hangs tags to indicate so to the painter. * Notifies the group leader immediately when problems arise. * Fork Truck operation, see job description for Fork Truck Driver. Material Handling - Outgoing: * Reviews job orders and compares it to the material (semi-finished product that is now painted). * Takes the material off the hooks by gloved hand or by using the hoist. Counts the material and groups it together in the proper sequences for use by the assembly department. Places the job order and label with the appropriate job. * Inspects painted material for defects. Uses spray paint can to touch up minor defects. Rejects major defects. * Must be careful not to injure the painted material. * Performs basic assembly (bearings, clips, etc.). Installs casters. * Prepares wood pallets (with nail gun) to be used to place the material (housings) on. Places housings on pallets. * Sends semi-finished products (material) to the assembly department (heavy parts or light parts areas). * When problems arise, notify the group leader immediately. Physical Requirements: * Ability to lift up to 75 pounds, anything over 75 pounds with apparatus assistance. * Move up to 180 pounds. * Always twisting, turning, bending, lifting, walking and standing. Knowledge and Experience: * Ability to read, write, perform basis math calculations, and communicate clearly. * One to two years' manufacturing/production experience required. Product knowledge a plus. * Flexible to accept changes in work assignments as required to meet customer requirements. * Versatile and capable of performing various work assignment * Prior experience in inventory control. * Experienced with electric and pneumatic equipment. * Ability to prioritize and organize materials. * Able to read a tape measure using metric system.
