Material Sorter 2Nd Shift

Summary

All Material Sorters employed by Athens Services are responsible for maintaining a clean work area. It is expected that every Material Sorter employee will conduct his/her self in a professional manner at all times and perform all duties as assigned in a safe manner. Our Material Sorters must also be able to communicate professionally with their peers and management.

Job Description

• Prepare and sort materials or products for recycling.

• Identify and remove hazardous substances safely.

• Clean recycling area by sweeping, raking, or picking up various types of debris including: broken glass, plastic, paper, cardboard, & other refuge.

• Sort recyclable materials from mixed waste collected from residential and/or commercial receptacles.

• Deposit recoverable materials into chutes or place materials on conveyor belt.

• Sort materials, such as metals, glass, cardboard, paper or plastics, into appropriate containers for recycling.

• Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• 1-year experience working as a general laborer and/or manufacturing environment.

• High School Diploma / GED

• Working knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions common to manufacturing operations.

• Ability to establish effective working relationships with other employees and supervisors.

• Ability to understand and communicate in writing and verbally and follow instructions.

• Ability to observe proper safety precautions.

• Ability to work overtime as needed.

• Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Waste industry experience (preferably at a Material Recovery Facility - MRF)

Salary: 17.75-19.50 per hour
