Scope of Position:
Expected to grow through experience into role as Redraw expert for manufacture of Fiber products at Sullivan Park facility, with cross-training in Consolidation. The employee will initially be working as an 'apprentice' to a current Redraw/Consolidation technician.
Through this training the employee will eventually become proficient in Redraw and Consolidation equipment operation and maintenance, running production ware with rigorous controls while maintaining the flexibility to meet the varied needs of development and research projects. Once trained sufficiently, this person will assume responsibility for second shift operation of Redraw and Consolidation, while providing backup to the technician who will be doing second shift in Laydown.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
Operate full functionality of Redraw equipment to make optical fiber canes.
Control all aspects of the Redraw process including setup, operation, cane tagging/bagging, and run completion and cleanup. Expected to perform normal maintenance and initial troubleshooting of equipment. Will also be trained in loading/unloading blanks in the Consolidation Furnaces and basics of operating those furnaces.
No travel typically required, but domestic travel to Wilmington plant may be requested for project needs.
Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time: 40 hours per week, primarily 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM while training, then 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM schedule with flexibility required based upon project and equipment usage requirements.
Education and Experience (minimum required for consideration) Associates Degree (technical/engineering), 5+ yrs experience preferred.

4.Knowledge of manufacturing/production operations and scheduling requirements.
5.Familiarity with OVD process equipment or previous experience with optical fibers and/or processes
