Responsible for managing and directing the work of the operations unit including facilities, safety, regulatory compliance, industrial engineering, packaging and NAQC support. Manage the development, implementation and continual improvement of the operating methods, equipment, systems and operational infrastructure of the organization. Manage the organization's environmental and safety program, including ensuring adherence to all health and safety laws and regulations, completion of all required audits, investigation of all accidents or safety incidents, analyzing all employee safety training needs and implementing required training and ensuring overall environmental and safety education for associates. Oversee and manages the production procedures to launch new and optimize process for existing product lines, design of packaging equipment and warehouse packaging and labeling to ensure the safe, convenient and attractive transport of the organization's products to customers. Manage the kaizen and quality circle initiatives for the materials operations group in all assigned locations. Create operating budgets and capital budgets with other leadership team members. Manage department expense budget. Participate in the business planning and budgeting process. Develops short and long-term cost containment/reduction strategies. Ability to translate strategy into actionable information and monitor strategy achievement. Excellent analytical skills and problem solving skills. Intermediate level of proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Working knowledge of distribution or warehouse management software systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Qualified candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in business, safety, industrial engineering, supply chain or related field and 10 or more years of relevant experience, including supervision experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Ensure the optimal utilization of the organization's facilities by assessing and evaluating the physical space requirements of the organization and recommends plans to meet those needs. Manages all capital and other facility and grounds improvement projects. Ensures proper functioning of the facilities through ongoing inspection and maintenance.

  • Manage the development, implementation and continual improvement of the operating methods, equipment, systems and operational infrastructure of the organization.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Level of Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Experience with supply chain and logistics theories and practices

  • Effective communication and diplomacy skills to guide and lead others

  • Strong leadership with a demonstrated ability to lead multiple projects

  • Ability to translate strategy into actionable information and monitor strategy achievement

  • Excellent analytical skills and problem solving skills

  • Intermediate level of proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • Working knowledge of distribution or warehouse management software systems

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

Typically, the position exerts up to 10 pounds of force and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move an inanimate object. Visual requirements include color, depth perception and field of vision. Physical requirements include standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, talking, hearing and repetitive motions. Position work environment is typically indoors in pleasant, well-lighted area with comfortable temperatures and in a controlled environment where no significant amounts of dust, fumes or odors. Occasionally exposed to a warehouse environment with moving mechanical parts and material handling equipment. Temperatures may vary widely dependent on the season. Safety vest and protective shoes must be worn when working in the warehouse area. Unavoidable accidents and health hazards are unlikely.

ISO/TS Requirements

  • Ensures compliance with general organization wide and department specific ISO/TS 16949 requirements.

  • Participates in and supports environmental ISO 14001 and safety activities by developing supporting goals and objectives, attending required training, complying with established procedures and initiating and implementing corrective actions, as needed.
