Material Inventory Specialist

Your tasks and responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of this role, Material Inventory Specialist, are to:

  • Demonstrate proficiency in the receipt and inventory of sample materials into the multiple inventories following all applicable processes and ensuring the timely and accurate entry into the material management database, proper storage conditions/location, and the appropriate seed allocations;

  • Serve as primary bulk warehouse inventory contact, ensuring that deliveries and received and ensuring the integrity of the bulk-grain inventory;

  • Coordinate and contribute to the cycle count function for sample inventories, working through contingent workers to ensure inventory


  • Conduct bulk grain cleaning or grinding/disposal, as needed;

  • Contribute to the shipping process, ensuring the accuracy and compliance of seed and plant material shipping;

  • Provide freezer malfunction support, ensuring that freezers are sufficiently monitored, and sample integrity is maintained in the event of freezer malfunction;

  • Contribute to ongoing process improvement efforts for material inventory;

  • Serve as primary trainer for new inventory personnel, ensuring the compliance to requirements as stated in applicable SOPs; oversee training progress and ensuring trainees get signed-off by team lead as proficient in all applicable workflows;

  • Record and analyze applicable sample inventory key performance indicators (KPI) to ensure that systemic material inventory issues are

detected and addressed;

  • Ensure all material inventory SOPs, work instructions, forms, and job aids are updated as necessary and reflect the current processes.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (preferred biological or agricultural sciences or related discipline);

  • Minimum 6 months - experience with seed or plant material handling and shipping;

  • Strong process orientation; Drives process development and compliance;

  • Detail orientation; awareness of detailed requirements relative to regulatory compliance and/or shipping;

  • Proven record of strong initiative/foresight, results-orientation, and agility;

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.;

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;

  • Must enjoy working in a fast-paced environment;

  • Able to build excellent working relationships;

  • Excellent logistics, trouble-shooting, and task-orientation skills.

Desired Skills:

  • Knowledge of USDA, EPA or other regulated material packaging/shipping requirements;

  • Experience in a regulatory, compliance-based environment;

  • Experience in ISO 9001:2015; QMS, metrics/KPIs, process improvement;

  • Experience with working through others to achieve results;

  • Experience utilizing MS Word, Excel, Teams; strong comfort level utilizing electronic systems.

VIEW JOBS 4/19/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-07-18T00:00 SUMMARY The IT Inventory Coordinator handles all aspects of inventory movement including re-stocking and accounting for items in the Information Technology Department. Also complies and maintains records of the quantity, type, and value of related hardware. This individual also utilizes software and other electronic devices to track, ship, and receive inventory. The IT Inventory Coordinator works under immediate supervision. Must be able to work well individually and as part of a team. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Replenishes inventory and fills hardware requests. * Conducts weekly audit of inventory. * Compiles and maintains records of the quantity, type, and value of the supplies. * Investigates and completes reconciliation of inventory and reports. * Forecasts and estimates the potential stock requirements. * Works with vendor(s) for appropriate asset disposal. * Completes Reallocations for Accounting. * Tracks the transportation and distribution of inventory. * Issues call tags and coordinates inventory returns. * Accepts vendor deliveries ensuring accuracy and reporting any damage. * Owns issues through resolution, escalating to appropriate support member/team when necessary. * Work well with geographically diverse teams and users. * Ensures compliance with established internal control procedures. * Image newly acquired PC's when received. * Performs other related duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS * High School diploma or equivalent required * 1-2 years experience in an IT environment preferred * Specific experience with Dell equipment is a plus * Knowledge of principles for providing strong customer and personal service. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction. * Knowledge of operating a PC and working on inventory software and programs. * Ability to work well collaboratively in a team environment. * Maintains a safe work environment. * Ability to multi-task to address multiple and often conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment. * Possess exceptional organizational time management skills. * Ability to demonstrate proactive approach to problem resolution, and problem solving skills. * Understanding of functions within a financial organization a plus. * Knowledge of industry standard inventory best practices. * Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, and other standard office procedures and terminology. * Effective communication skills and ability to relay information well in both written and verbal form. * Ability to manage priorities, deadlines and tasks in order to meet deadlines and to accomplish goals. * Uses logic and reasoning to identify problems; review related information and develop options and implement solutions. * Required to physically perform the basic functions of reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, talking, and hearing and perform repetitive motions. * Occasionally required to walk and/or sit for extended periods of time. * May occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. * TOOLS AND TECHNOLOGY * PC and peripheral equipment * Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) * Carts, dolly, and pallet jack * Multi-line telephone * Office Equipment (Copier, Fax, Scanner, Printer) Stifel Nicolaus Saint Louis MO
