The material handler maintains production and distribution of product by pulling orders from inventory; delivering production materials and supplies and staging product.

Work activities include but are not limited to:

  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, have sufficient knowledge of all equipment used by department and any safety requirements during its operation.

  • Maintains the workplace and warehouse in a neat, clean and orderly condition. Adheres to 5S standards.

  • Puts away inventory from vendors as well as manufacturing.

  • Performs SAP transactions pertaining to material control requirements.

  • Performs basic material handling activities: unloading trucks, receiving parts, in SAP, material movements, order fulfillment, cycle counts and inventory error investigation.

  • Identify, label, pull parts and move to the correct manufacturing production cell.

  • Locates materials and supplies by pulling and verifying materials and supplies listed on production orders.

  • Maintains in-process inventory at work centers by delivering and opening materials and supplies.

  • Performs cycle counts of raw material and in-process inventories. Identifies root cause of any discrepencies and puts new solutions in place.

  • Operates pallet jacks and forklifts as and when needed

  • Maintains material-handling equipment by completing pre-use inspections; making operator repairs.

  • Help maintain positive work environment.

Education Minimum Requirement:

  • High School diploma, or equivalent, with 2 years relevant work experience
Required Experience and

  • Safety conscious

  • Must be organized and have strong attention to detail

  • Must have ability to follow verbal and written instructions

  • Proficient in basic PC operation

  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Preferred Experience and

  • Experience working in a manufacturing setting

  • Experience with aseptic gowning procedures

  • Experience following approved protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs)

  • Maintain accurate paperwork and documentation

  • Experience working in warehousing environment

  • Experience maintaining inventory control

  • Experience using SAP

  • Able to work both independently and within a team structure

  • Self motivated

  • Good time management skills

Qualified candidates can: * Work and operate material handling equipment safely while actively engaging in a strong team environment to meet goals and targets. * Apply a strong quality mindset when receiving, evaluating, handling, and delivering materials for production. * Continually assess and prioritize the needs of their customers to provide timely delivery. * Observe operations processes to define and document work standards and suggest improvements. * Leverage lean concepts, creative problem solving, and out-of-the box thinking when faced with opportunities for improvement. Other requirements for the job are as follows: Required Education: * High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Required Skills or traits for the position: * Ability to operate a fork lift safely is required. Safety record will be considered when selecting employees for Material Handler positions. * Strong computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office products such as Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint are required. Experience with ERP systems, specifically SAP is a plus. * Valid drivers' license required and may use various company vehicles to make out of plant pickups or deliveries. * Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. * Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
