Material Handler II

Essential Functions:

  • Verify order number, quantities, and serial numbers for orders brought to the shipping dock.

  • Measure and weigh crates and pallets for outbound orders.

  • Process orders in G&W business system.

  • Safely load trucks with a sit-down forklift

  • Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations

  • Conserve resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results

  • Contribute to team effort by training others in performance of material handler tasks as needed

  • Inspect all work prior to passing it on to the next operation

  • Document actions by completing production and quality forms as needed

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must be able to safely use pallet jacks and forklifts

  • Must have intermediate-level computer skills

  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with others to support the manufacturing processes

  • Must be able to provide proof of previous forklift certification. Must be able to demonstrate core competence, operation, and safe working knowledge of a sit-down PIT (Power Industrial Truck).

  • Must have and maintain a valid drivers license

Education/Experience:

  • High School diploma, GED or combination of work experience and skill development required

  • 1-3 years experience working in a manufacturing environment desirable

  • Previous warehouse or manufacturing experience desirable

  • 3-5 years PIT (Power Industrial Truck) or Forklift

Physical Demands: (The work is classified as Medium Heavy Physical Demand Level (PDL) by the US Dept of Labors Dictionary of Occupational Titles) Frequencies: Occasional (1-33%); Frequent (34-66%); Continuous (67-100%)

Lifting Demands

  • Lift up to 75 lbs on an occasional basis floor to waist with assistance

  • Lift up to 50 lbs on a frequent basis floor to waist

  • Carry up to 50 lbs on an occasional basis up to 25 feet

  • Push/Pull up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis

  • Push/Pull 51-100 pounds on an occasional basis with assistance

Postural Demands

  • Sitting - occasional

  • Standing frequent

  • Walking frequent

  • Bending/stooping occasional

  • Squatting/kneeling occasional

  • Lifting continuous

Miscellaneous Demands

  • Griping, manipulation, fingering frequent to continuous

  • Variable hand/power tool use occasional

  • Two-person lifting tasks using assistive devices for lifting, pulling and pushing including hand trucks, pallet jacks, forklifts, stackers, etc
