Overview

Generac Power Systems Work with the leader in the power industry! Our office in Waukesha, WI is seeking a Material Handler II.

The Material Handler II will be responsible for all material handling needs, primarily picking warehoused parts and delivering to assembly areas to ensure efficient production. Work closely with production lines to ensure full utilization of people, materials, and equipment to meet customer demand. The Material Handler will be required to achieve company standards for safety, quality, and productivity. This position reports directly to Materials Manager or Supervisor.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Regular and prompt attendance and the ability to work schedule as define and overtime as required.

  • Works under general supervision on a wide range of assignments that require a substantial knowledge of the discipline or function. Follows established procedures, processes, or policies, but is expected to use judgment in resolving issues or recommending solutions. May participate in project teams or lead portions of projects.

  • Has a thorough knowledge of the basic principles, practices, and processes in the applicable discipline and has a working knowledge of related fields.

  • Provides resolutions from basic to moderately complex problems. Exercises judgment within procedures and practices in selecting methods and techniques for arriving at solutions.

  • Contacts are typically with the supervisor and other members of the team or immediate organization but may be outside of this in order to complete the assignment. May represent the team on projects and interface with customers. Impacts of errors normally have implications requiring additional resources.

  • Maintain fork lift daily inspections

  • Maintain stock area

  • Accepts responsibility for own actions, follows through on commitments.

  • Participate in team meets and exchange job related information

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 2-4 years' experience.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Operate a forklift or other equipment to transport materials within the factory

  • Practice safe working habits, following safety guidelines to operation and support of company initiatives

  • Enter/maintain/transact materials in Generac ERP

  • Ability to identify and resolve basic problems

  • Ability to effectively work in a team environment.

  • Models positive and professional work ethics.

  • Effective communication skills

  • Provide solutions for optimum material flow from HUB (if applicable) to and from inventory storage areas including supermarkets to lineside. May also include flow of materials from receiving to shipping.

  • Must be effectively cross-trained on multiple operations.

  • Ability to use advanced troubleshooting within the materials environment

  • Expected to train other employees in established processes

  • Contributes to improving processes, lead times, through-put and cost.

  • Problem solving skills and interfacing with other departments.

  • Strong communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Basic problem solving knowledge.

  • Ability to perform basic reading, writing, and math functions.

  • Intermediate PC knowledge

  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee frequently is required to use hands to manipulate objects, tools or controls and talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to walk; stoop; crouch; bend and reach above shoulders. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100 pounds with assistance, waist high, up to 10 feet away. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception. Temperatures can vary from cool to warm depending upon the season. The employee must comply with the assigned location PPE requirements including but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, appropriate gloves, clothing and shields for required tasks and closed toed or safety shoes as required by facility safety policies

The Paint I – Paint Hanger is expected to safely complete supervised powder coat paint established procedures, processes, or policies. Paint Hangers safely and efficiently load and unload raw parts from the paint line. The Paint Hangers are expected to move efficiently and safely with the end result being a ready to use part or assembly. This position reports directly to Production Manager or Supervisor. Responsibilities Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Regular and prompt attendance and the ability to work schedule as define and overtime as required. * Loading, transferring, and unloading of parts on and/or from paint line * Process each part by hanging/racking to paint application * Inspect quality of parts before and after finishing process * Perform work duties in a safe manner and in accordance with policy (including wearing required proper personal protective equipment, work habits and performing appropriate housekeeping duties) * Constantly work in a constantly high heat environment * Inspect quality of parts before and after finishing process * Exchange and break down racks and prepare for burn-off * Maintain proper counts * Report all scrap * Perform stock handling duties as required * Maintain a clean work environment Qualifications Basic Qualifications: * High School diploma or equivalent * 0-2 years of experience * Detail oriented and organized Additional Qualifications: * Ability to effectively communicate * Ability to understand and execute basic standard procedures * Ability to perform basic reading and writing skills * Ability to effectively work in a team environment * Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve * Ability to communicate and work well with others * A positive attitude, assertive, dependable, and energetic * A strong focus on quality of work Preferred Qualifications: * Previous experience with powder paint systems PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and maintain constant hand/eye coordination along with balance. The employee frequently is required to use hands to manipulate objects, tools or controls and talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to walk, stoop, crouch, bend and reach above shoulders. The employee must perform frequent pushing and pulling of trolley, carts, and pallet jacks up to 71 pounds of force (82 pounds of force at the curve). The employee must repetitively lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted, above or below shoulder heights and up to 100 pounds with assistance, waist high, up to 10 feet away. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
