Material Handler I - Recycling

The Material Handler - Recycling is responsible for the collection and/or proper disposal of cardboard, plastics, metal and trash. This may include tugger and/or forklift operation, vertical and/or horizontal baler operation, as well as sorting recyclable material and loading trailers. This will also include pulling and replacing trash bags throughout production areas and company grounds.

Abilities needed:

• Able to comply with safety regulations and protocols to prevent accidents or injuries.

• Able to maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the recycling area by regularly cleaning work areas, removing debris, and disposing of waste appropriately.

• Able to operate machinery, such as balers or compactors to process recyclable materials into manageable forms for storage or transportation.

• Able to operate powered industrial trucks and tuggers.

• Able to follow written work instructions.

• Able to learn multiple recycling routes and adjust to varying tasks.

• Able to stage containers on production line.

• Able to collaborate with other team members to achieve production targets and ensure efficient operations within the recycling facility.

• Able to keep accurate records of materials received, processed, and shipped to maintain inventory control and facilitate reporting.

• Demonstrated ability to be an effective material handler.

• Physical fitness and stamina to handle repetitive tasks, lift heavy objects, and spend long hours on their feet.

• Strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for sorting materials quickly and efficiently.

• Good communication skills to collaborate with team members and follow instructions.

• Basic mechanical aptitude to operate and maintain recycling equipment effectively.

• Ability to work independently with time management skills to prioritize tasks.

Education/Experience:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Previously held material handler position.

• Silver CRC
