You will serve as a Material Handler in the NDW NAVFAC Material Branch of NAVSUP FLEET LOGISTICS CENTER NORFOLK.

  • You will receive, unload, and process incoming shipments.

  • You will assemble items into groups based on information shown on the receiving vouchers and, as required, segregate materials according to such factors as condition type of transaction or property class and route along appropriate processing lines.

  • You will determine which docking area is most convenient for off-loading purposes and see that the carrier is directed to the designated unloading point.

  • You will collect and deliver receipt dues in MAXIMO computerized operating system program.

  • You will operate van type trucks with gross weight of 7,000 to 8,000 pounds.

  • You will drive on scheduled and unscheduled trips to transport material and equipment.

  • You will operatre Material Handling Equipment (MHE), such as forklifts to mechanically load and unload materials.

  • You will occasionally operate a stake truck with a gross weight of approximately 16,000 pounds that is capable of carrying loads up to but including 4 tons.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: * HS diploma or GED * Clean criminal history with ability to pass an initial and periodic government issued background checks. * Auditing and asset management experience. * Weapons and ammunition knowledge. * Strong communication and writing skills * Ability to work 1st, 2nd and 3rd shifts. * All contractual personnel; shall be required to meet the security requirements as determined by the department of homeland security, office of special investigation & security, and those of the customer.
