POSITION: Material Handler

Primary Purpose

Responsible for the safe & quality operation and proficient understanding of loading, unloading, and moving raw materials within or near plant, and regrinds scrap product.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Abides by all Amcor's Safety and Quality policies and procedures.

  • MUST BE ABLE TO OPERATE A FORKLIFT in a safe, but proficient manner. Must be able to do so for a 12-hour period.

  • Supply necessary raw materials to production as needed.

  • Remove finished goods from production area and put production tickets on pallets and store in proper place in warehouse.

  • Must be able to operate SAP Computer System in order to tag finished product and be knowledgeable of what material is needed.

  • Must be able to stack finished product in warehouse in a neat manner.

  • Must be flexible and able to work any shift.

  • Must be able and willing to work in a fast-paced environment that can change instantly.

  • Must be able to work safely and in a very tight production area.

  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.

  • Must willingly accept any other duties/changes to position to fit the needs for production as requested by Shift Supervisor.

  • Must wear safety equipment, personal protective equipment, as required in the area or to perform specific job duties.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to recognize and understand numbers and values and enters this information into an on-line database accurately. A strong mathematical ability is essential.

  • Ability to visually distinguish fine variations in color and other visual defects.

  • Proficient hand/eye coordination to operate equipment.

  • Ability to visually and mentally make priority decisions and independent judgment calls based on the situation at hand.

  • Ability to efficiently and effectively use a computer and related software.

  • Ability to work all shifts and required overtime.

Education & Experience

  • Requires high school diploma or equivalent. Some post-secondary education preferred (i.e., Technical or Vocational education)
  • Forklift certification and previous work experience in manufacturing environment preferred.

Ability to work in the conditions described below. Ability to perform essential duties and physical functions described below. Ability to perform the four (4) basic arithmetic operations (add, subtract, multiply and divide) Essential Duties Provides prompt, courteous customer service and resolves customer issues on shift. Provides training assistance to new QSR Representatives. Performs shift supervision. Ring up all sales on cash register properly and accurately, handling money, checks, and other types of payment received for products sold. Performs multi-function and cleaning duties necessary to maintain store cleanliness inside and out; basic upkeep and cleaning of all equipment at store. Controls merchandise, cash shortages ad other selling expenses. Assists new applicants with application process. Attends job-related meetings (may be required to work irregular hours). Inspect store facility and equipment for safety, cleanliness and proper working order. Contacts maintenance for repair when needed. Receives and verifies vendor deliveries. Assists in maintaining proper inventory levels and shift audits. Completes all site merchandise build-to's for ordering and purchasing of merchandise. Performs other duties as assigned by the QSR Supervisor/Manager. Working Conditions Perform approximately 95% of all work indoors, but will be required to work outside to clean QSR areas, take out the garbage during the day or early evening hours, etc. Exposure to extreme cold temperatures while performing occasional work in a walk in cooler and/or freezer. Exposure to occasional noise. Work with a minimum direction and periodic supervision. Physical Functions Ability to stand and/or walk for up to 8 hours. Ability to occasionally lift and/or carry up to 30 pounds from ground to overhead up to 30 minutes of workday (i.e., assisting in stocking/maintaining inventory levels). Ability to occasionally lift and/or carry up to 60 pounds from ground to waist level (i.e., to replenish fountain syrups). Ability to push/pull with arms up to a force of 20 pounds (i.e., utilizing a hand-truck). Ability to bend at waist with some twisting up to one hour of workday. Ability to grasp, reach and manipulate objects with hands up to all day. (This handwork requires eye-hand coordination, and may require climbing a ladder to store and retrieve materials or place and remove signs).
