Collins Aerospace is seeking an experienced Material Finish Processor. To perform all process checks as instructed; safely operate parts washer, shotpeen equipment, conversion coating, anodizing chemical descaling, fluorescent penetrant application, air and electric hand tools, clean equipment; perform rework using the required tools and machines necessary, maintain good housekeeping and clean work area; move material from stock area to workstation and between stations within the area.

Onsite: This position will work onsite at our Troy, OH Landing Systems Headquarters. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

3rd Shift Sunday

  • Friday 11:00p.m.- 7:00a.m

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Receive job assignment from supervisor or job assignment book.

  • Monitor and adjust pollution control system.

  • Monitor chemical concentrations, calculate additions, and maintain records on chemical processing solutions.

  • Respond to wastewater treatment audio alarm system.

  • Perform visual checks on Wastewater Treatment system.

  • Handle hazardous waste generated in department and place waste into containers in accordance with hazardous waste management rules.

  • Read and follow standard operating procedure, routings, blueprints Manufacturing, Engineering and Quality Assurance specifications, equipment manuals and other instructions including NADCAP requirements.

  • Set up and operate departmental equipment.

  • Stamp required information on work piece.

  • Check quality of work and parts, operate machine.

  • Maintain operating level of shot and chemical solutions in related equipment.

  • Load and unload parts.

  • Perform rework using the required tools and machines necessary.

  • Record information on SPC and/or PCL charts, record transactions/quality data.

  • Immediately report machine, gauging or process problem to supervisor.

  • Oil machines as needed utilizing appropriate tools.

  • Other related duties assigned by supervisor.

  • Move material between workstations and cells/areas as dictated by the manufacturing cell configuration and the nature of the part (by hand truck, hoist, robot assist, etc.).

  • Retrieve items from tool crib and complete forms/transactions as required.

  • Attend training classes, cell meetings.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Physical requirements:

  • Wearing of all personal protective equipment as required.

  • In addition to the items subsumed in the job duties above, it should be noted that this position. Requires substantial reaching and moving while standing; lifting to 50 pounds; twisting; stooping; and response to sounds associated to the work environment.

EHS Requirements:

  • Adherence to all EH&S roles and responsibilities as stated in manufacturing work instructions and EHS policies and procedures is required.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a high school diploma.

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

  • Capable of performing mathematical calculations requiring addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division and pass pre-employment qualification tests.

  • Experience utilizing oral and written comprehension and understanding of technical documents including but not limited to routings, blueprints, Engineering process specifications and written work instructions.

  • Near vision in one or both eyes corrected to 20/25 or better, check once every year. Color vision test normal one time only.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous aerospace experience

  • Chemical processing experience
