Material Control Specialist

AMI is a leading supplier of integrated electromechanical assemblies to commercial and military prime contractors. The company designs equipment to meet client specifications and manufactures high-precision components to produce high-quality assemblies. Products include special purpose instruments, maritime vessel control panels, power supply and distribution assemblies, and surface vehicle and power generating plant control assemblies.

You will demonstrate success by:

  • Performing receiving, shipping, and kitting functions, as a Material Handler (Kitter), while interacting with various departments within L3

  • Working as a team with a Production Planner to complete product per schedule, within budget and must be expedient with attention to detail

  • Utilizing strong communication skills effectively interfacing with other departments and management

  • Working from oral & written instructions with proficient skills related to a computerized inventory system, and Windows based programs

  • Ability to perform in and contribute to a team environment with good inter-personal skills is necessary

  • Capable to use problem-solving skills related to basic problems that effect inventory status in kitting, shipping and receiving

  • Knowledge of packaging procedures, materials, and inventory used in packaging and/or handling of finished goods

  • Ability to use good judgment in making decisions related to priority, packaging and material handling

  • Able to safely operate hand carts, pallet jacks, and fork lifts

  • Basic expediting inventory control experience is preferred

  • Must have basic computer skills including Windows based programs such as Word and Excel, and experience with an ERP system is helpful

  • Due to the nature of our work qualified candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance

VIEW JOBS 11/16/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-02-14T00:00 Reports To: Parts Supervisor, Warehouse Supervisor, Warehouse Manager or Leadman Summary: Intermediate level position that performs a variety of duties in shipping, receiving and/or warehouse with moderate supervision. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: * Understanding of warehouse layout and how to locate materials * Strives for continuous improvement through on the job learning * Receives incoming materials, supplies and equipment. Unloads trucks, compares received items to purchase order to verify accuracy and quantity of shipment. Inspects material for damage and defects and escalates issues to Lead. Uncrates and assembles materials if directed and removes and disposes of unneeded packing materials * Delivers materials to appropriate departments accurately and obtains proper authorization of delivered materials * Prepares crates and other items to be shipped * Makes sure that items are properly tagged and labeled * May drive truck/forklift to transport stored items from warehouse to plant or to pick up items from several locations for shipment * Observes and complies with all safe work practices, wears PPE * Complies with all HSE regulations and requirements * Must be able to work with the team in developing improved work processes for the department * Utilizes computerized inventory system * Resolve vendor discrepancies and report those that are more complex to a higher level. * Maintain an adequate inventory of warehouse supplies * Assures correct materials are pulled from stock and staged with the location noted * Assists in assuring accurate issues on material requests and required systems process occurs * Receives incoming materials, supplies and equipment. Unloads trucks, compares received items to purchase order to verify accuracy and quantity of shipment. Inspects material for damage and defects and takes appropriate action. Uncrates and assembles materials if directed and removes and disposes of unneeded packing materials. * Assures material discrepancies are handled in a timely manner * Assuring accurate issues on material requests and required systems processing occurs * Assists in preparing crates and other items to be shipped. Contacts appropriate shipping companies when shipping items and educates user departments regarding shipping requirements * Develop and train entry and intermediate level staff Preferred Education/Experience: A high school diploma or equivalent with minimum of one to three years experience. Physical Strain: * Standard requirements. Bending, squatting, climbing, stooping, twisting and reaching will all be required occasionally in this position * Lifting 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds Exterran Broken Arrow OK
