Job Introduction

Maple Stamping requires an individual who can apply World Class/Lean Manufacturing principles and methods to optimize material conveyance processes throughout the facility; as well as to promote, devise and manage continuous improvement projects relevant to material conveyance operations within the Division.

Major Responsibilities

  • Evaluate cycle times on assembly lines, calculate min/max line side inventories, operator walk and movements in order to define the right presentation at the line.

  • Work with Manufacturing Engineers/Program Managers/Customers to establish optimal Work in Process (WIP and Finished Good (FG) containers

  • Design and support flow rack construction for line side presentation.

  • Design and improve Material Conveyance routes for line side delivery of WIP and pick up of FG.

  • Develop Standardized Work for all material conveyance tasks/roles in facility.

  • Train operators in material flow and work instructions.

  • Work with ergonomics and safety committees to establish standard which support world class manufacturing initiatives.

  • Work with Production Control Team to develop and maintain Plan for Every Part (PFEP).

  • Design and support installation of storage racks, supermarket/staging/decanting areas.

  • Maintain stock control over racking materials, casters, etc. For new flow racks and cart designs.

  • Communicate with material handling equipment suppliers as required for new implementations or maintenance of existing systems.

  • Develop and maintain shop floor documentation, cost reduction projects and waste elimination projects, support Kaizen Teams to improve performance on cells.

  • Develop and maintain 5S programs in each area to support lean manufacturing requirements.

  • Work with appropriate members of Management Team on CAPEX requirements and follow up on orders as necessary.

Knowledge and Education

  • Post-Secondary education in engineering, industrial or operations management is required, preference will be given to candidates with Engineering Degree.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project).

  • Good command of the English language both verbal, written and the ability to communicate with the customer.

Work Experience

  • Experience in use of 3D modeling software.

  • Experience with AS400 CMS an asset.

  • Experience in supply chain management, manufacturing/industrial engineering and/or packaging engineering considered an asset.

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment which includes stamping and assembly.

Skills and Competencies

  • Working knowledge of material flow methodologies from a Lean Thinking perspective.

  • Experience in mining, collecting, cleansing and analyzing data from ERP systems.

  • Analytically-minded with solid organizational and communication skills able to meet prescribed deadlines, sometimes under pressure.

  • Demonstrates skills to consistently achieve commitment and consensus from all stakeholders.

  • Ability to consult, set goals, objectives and timelines and measure and monitor progress and results against plan through effective use of standard project management tools and techniques.

  • Ability to discuss strategic and sensitive issues, aware of the impact a new program may have on existing or expansion of facility.

  • Is aware of how the overall production process needs to follow lean principles and makes decisions to achieve Lean principles from the design phase through to implementation.

Work Environment

  • Normal amount of sitting or standing, average mobility to move around an office or manufacturing floor environment, able to conduct normal amount of work at a computer, may require local travel.

  • Must have a valid passport to enter the US & driver's license as travel is required on occasion.

  • Wears all PPE as required, ability to carry out routine, repetitive tasks such as reaching, pushing, pulling, standing, walking, lifting, packing, stacking, bending and some physical lifting.

VIEW JOBS 9/13/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-12-12T00:00 Under the supervision of the assigned Project Representative (Resident Engineer and/or the Structures Representative, and/or Client Representative) the Office Engineer (OE) supports the Resident Engineer in the documentation of the project construction in compliance with the plans, specifications, standard plans, and standard specifications. The OE is an authorized representative of the RE and/or SR and/or client representative and will exercise authority to the level assigned on a project by project basis. The OE is the Resident Engineer's representative, committed to making certain that the project moves smoothly, that the Client's interests are protected, and that there is teamwork, efficiency, and clear communication with Contractors, Agencies, VC&A staff, and others who may visit the project. The OE has full authority, in matters of safety related to imminent hazard or danger. The principal duties and responsibilities of the OE include the following: * Ensures project documentation is processed in timely manner and is retrievable * Provides direction to and supervises the office technician(s) and/or other administrative staff * Manages and maintains pertinent contract documents and references specific to the project * Develops and maintains an organized and complete set of records and procedures for the project * Receives, distributes and processes all documents from the contractor, sub consultants, client, VC&A management and any other stakeholders * Files all documentation generated on the contract from all parties into the appropriate job records and categories in a timely manner * Prepares and processes the weekly statement of working days * Logs and tracks submittals for review * Logs and tracks requests for information * Logs and tracks contract change orders (CCOs) and CCO payments, and processes extra work bill reports * Prepares progress payment estimates, using the quantity sheets submitted by the RE, SR or Field Engineer, and monitors the project contingency balance * Prepares calculations of quantities for progress payments and CCOs as needed * Deducts from the progress payment estimate for failed tests, labor compliance nonconformance, SWPPP deficiencies, and additional surveying due to the contractor's disregard or removal of existing staking, etc. Other Duties: * Assists the RE in preparing final project closeout documents, including the resolution of potential claims * Maintains the as-built drawings for change order updates and assists RE in ensuring field staff updates as-built drawings as required * Monitors labor compliance * Monitors and schedules all necessary construction staking/surveys, field and material inspections and preliminary, acceptance, and specialty testing as required throughout the contract * Aware of the field progress and familiar with the project documents needed for * Performs field inspection when required * High School Diploma/GED or equivalent with a minimum of 5 years of construction experience * Knowledge and experience with the following: o Experience with Equipment used in inspection, surveying, and construction office engineering. o Computers, computer applications, and computer software programs in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, or equivalent) o Effective communication skills TRC Companies, Inc.
