Epsilon Systems Solutions is seeking a full-time Material Assist Team (MAT) Coordinator II in San Diego, CA.

Summary: Responsible for management of the MAT visits, coordination, and briefings.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides direct support for the coordination of MAT events for Naval vessels.

  • Ensure all support contractor personnel supporting MAT events are QA Craftsman 301 qualified.

  • Maintain access to Planned Maintenance System (PMS) Viewer and Automated Technical Information System (ATIS) computer applications.

  • Schedule and coordinate ten working day MAT visits with the ship, Type Commander (TYCOM), Ship Superintendent, and Production Shop managers, in support of Auxiliaries, Deck, Electrical, Guns (25 mm), Gas Turbines, Rigid Inflatable Boats (RIBs) (7 and 11 Meter).

  • Prepare and conduct formal MAT in-briefs with ship's leadership aboard U.S. Navy ships, prior to all scheduled MAT visits.

  • Coordinate with SWRMC Production and TYCOM to ensure the authorization of MATs, and that planned work is level-loaded and deconflicted with other assist visits aboard the ship.

  • Ensure SWRMC has local guidance for each MAT that outlines the provisions of Reference 3.9.3.1-A.

  • Provide a schedule of events for each day of the MAT visit to Production Department management personnel and ship's force personnel.

  • Assist ships' force in assessing and correcting ships' material condition in the execution of MATs.

  • Train ships' force on proper corrective and preventative shipboard maintenance, in accordance with ship's drawings, applicable technical manuals, and PMS MRCs. The Government will maintain command, direction, and control of military personnel at all times.

  • Coordinate with ships' force and Ship Superintendents to generate Automated Work Requests (AWRs) for each MAT visit.

  • Draft out-brief reports for the ship's CO, TYCOM, and CNRMC, documenting work accomplished, resources expended (number of personnel and man-days), and hands-on training provided to the ship.

  • Draft reports, memorandums, and correspondences to the ships, Naval activities, and other agencies in support of MAT visits.

  • Be professional in all communications and dealings, including with all internal and external customers.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Minimum 2 years' shipboard environment experience

  • Ability to complete SWRMC MAT JQR within four (4) months of providing direct support. Attend SWRMC Maintenance University to support of the JQR qualification process.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Security Clearance

  • Ability to communicate clearly, accurately and effectively to a range of audience sizes and seniority levels

  • Knowledge of maintenance procedures, practices and techniques common to the operation of repair activities, Naval Sea System Command, and TYCOMs

  • Knowledge of Naval vessel repair and overhaul techniques to effectively and professionally coordinate progress of maintenance and repair availabilities

  • Knowledge of JFMM in order to assure sound and timely progression of Naval vessel availabilities

  • Knowledge of the naval ship's configuration and major Naval vessel systems, to provide a general understanding of the work to be performed during an availability

  • Knowledge of technical writing and message drafting skills

  • Computer skills in use of word processing and spreadsheet type programs

  • Proficient in use of related computer program/systems, Microsoft Office applications

  • Familiar with support activities capabilities

  • Ability to operate a vehicle or industrial truck if required

Pay Range:

The pay range for this role is $26.07 - $32.30 Hourly. This is a reasonable estimate for this role. Individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.

ADA Notations:

  • Routinely climb, ascend or descend vertical ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps and the like to go aboard ships, barges, drydocks and other Naval craft

  • Requires walking, reaching, sitting and concentration in the presence of occasional noise

  • Ability to move in narrow and restricted passageways, up/down steep and narrow ladders or stairways, and up and down antenna masts/yardarms (onboard ships)

  • Routinely moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another

  • Sufficient visual acuity to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, extensive reading, as well as performing visual inspections for the purpose of identifying equipment defects and performing equipment validations

  • Ability to lift, carry and move objects up to 50 lbs. in weight
