While reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for safely troubleshooting and installing electrical systems, control systems, or other instruments, performing preventive and breakdown repairs on production equipment, and assist with building mechanical maintenance and related systems. Excellent attendance is crucial for the team to achieve success. You must have a proven record of success in a fast-paced environment. You must have the ability to work with various teams and be an effective problem solver. You will take pride in your personal hands-on and analytical abilities, organizational skills and attention to detail.

Day to day responsibilities include:

  • Analyzing and implementing electromechanical preventative maintenance needs on all plant machinery

  • Maintaining and repairing production equipment as needed

  • Troubleshooting and repairing all equipment and plant computer systems including PLC, AC & DC motor drive systems, motors and controls, power distribution systems.

  • Assisting and leading new electrical installations or replacement of new equipment.

  • Maintaining and repairing utility and facility-related equipment as directed

  • Maintaining appropriate inventory of parts for breakdowns, preventative maintenance, and projects by coordinating with the maintenance scheduler, and working with vendors on projects as required.

  • Completing machine repairs, tooling changes and set-up, including working with shop equipment as needed

  • Maintaining records, logs, daily reports, and files as required.

  • Collaborating closely with coworkers and with other departments and teams.

  • Reacting to emergency maintenance related problems

  • Maintaining a safe, clean and organized work area.

  • Perform reliability centered maintenance (RCM) to minimize downtime and machinery breakdown

  • Be proactive, offer suggestions to improve the maintenance and reliability of our equipment, and support our division Maintenance Excellence initiatives.

  • Maintaining company health, housekeeping and safety standards. Work rotating and nontraditional work schedules when needed.

  • Following proper OSHA, NFPA, and NEC standards, including the practice of Energy Isolation. Safely handle and use all necessary tools and equipment.

  • Performing all duties in support of Sonoco's quality and safety policies.

This position is in our Rigid Paper & Closures plant in Carrollton, Texas.

  • We expect you to be Sonoco mission driven

  • A technical degree in electrical/mechanical maintenance is preferred

  • You must have at least 5 years in a manufacturing environment troubleshooting, repairing, and/or installing electrical systems

  • You must have strong experience with programming and troubleshooting of PLC's, AC/DC's motors and controls, PLC's and digital electronics.

  • Knowledge of Allen Bradley, RSLOGIX, Banner, Yaskawa, or similar software. You must understand how to edit, monitor and maintain ladder logic and systems.

  • You will need to be able to perform repetitious duties, including stairs, and standing for long periods of time.

  • You must have a "get it done" attitude and an urgency to resolve problems/tasks.

  • To succeed in this role you will need excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Working independently and managing multiple tasks simultaneously is needed.

  • You will need to have a working knowledge of our products and their quality requirements.

  • Being reliable, having good initiative, being committed, and being quality focused is a must.

  • You will need to be able to lift 50 lbs. as needed.

  • You will need to be able to work overtime, including weekends, as required.

  • Having the ability to effectively work with a team in a fast-paced environment is crucial to success.

  • You will need to have the ability to read and understand manufacturing instructions.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities * Specify, design, innovate, develop, and validate complex mechanical/electro mechanical technologies, systems architectures, and product platforms for a variety of Katerra building projects in conjunction with Katerra Product Life Cycle processes (KPLC) * Global collaboration and technical support with systems engineering, architecture, product planners, developers, product assurance, quality, and manufacturing organizations to successfully move products thru the development cycle and into the market. * Hands on development and validation testing of power generation, air/fluid handling systems, and modular bath and kitchen products. * Support and interface with advanced manufacturing engineering teams to implement factory production automation and processes for same * Contribute to employee-oriented company culture that emphasizes quality, continuous improvement, high performance, in a rapidly growing and evolving environment. Required Skills & Experience * Broad knowledge and electro mechanical development experience with in high voltage power generation, air gas, fluid handling/transfer systems, and/or modular bath and kitchen product platforms * Demonstrated familiarity and use of current of electronics design and simulation tool suites like Pro-E, SolidWorks, Catia, Autodesk/REVIT to include FEA, complex thermal modelling, and mechanical design and tooling elements. * Experience using internal, external, 3rd party NRTL's to achieve complex regulatory, environmental certification and product validation objectives. * Demonstrated executive level technology, project leadership, and team building experience. * Broad knowledge of materials and innovative manufacturing methodologies * 10-15 years of demonstrable experience * BSME/MSME or equivalent * Advanced degree, specialized training, or additional expertise in industrial, high voltage/power, air/fluid handling and/ or modular construction systems given special consideration. The job is primarily performed in a basic corporate office and lab environment.
