Master Gardener

Job Description

General Summary The Master Gardener will assist in the receiving, stocking, pricing of all merchandise in Lawn and Garden. Handy ACE Hardware is open Monday through Saturday, 8am until 6 pm.

Customer Service: • Provide a positive reflection of Handy Ace Hardware. • Assist customers in solving problems. • Greet customers entering the store and throughout the department. • Possess a friendly outgoing demeanor; work well with customers and fellow store associates. • Experience with Gardening for home gardens and care of outdoor and indoor plants. • Forward any customer complaint that cannot be handled to a member of management. • Possess strong knowledge of product, store layout and location of products. Store Operations • Organize, water, and maintain outdoor plants • Assist in creating a positive, professional and safe work environment. • Assist with maintaining back and floor stock levels. • Assist with daily maintenance and cleanliness of the department. • Work with Department Manager with price changes and special orders. • Participate in store meetings. • Be professional in appearance and actions. • Perform all other duties as assigned. Education/Training High School or GED equivalent.

Experience: Lawn and Gardening experience required specifically to home gardens. Experience and comfortable answering questions and resolving issues involving Insecticides, garden care, electrical and manual garden tools, etc. Propane dispensing experience.

Retail customer service. Physical Demands Standing, walking, lifting (up to 25lbs) and climbing.
