Master Electronics Technician (Fire & Security Systems)

Provides a Master level of skill and knowledge with the ability to demonstrate in the testing, inspecting, troubleshooting, repair, maintenance, and programming of existing, as well as new electronic and water life safety and property protection systems including, but not limited to - Fire Alarm, Fire Suppression, Alarm Intrusion, CCTV, Access Control, Gate Control, Basic P/A and Sound, Two-way radio communication systems, and Basic Phone/Cable/Data/Fiber/Modem Communication systems for both Colonial Williamsburg Foundation and Colonial Williamsburg Company properties.

WORK TO BE PERFORMED:

1.Ability to perform installation and service work on various types of life safety and property protection systems.

2.Fire Alarm Systems and their standard components such as Temperature Alerts, Aerotubing, Aspiration Detection, and Smoke Beams.

3.Fire Suppression Systems to include wet, dry and deluge systems and their components including associated valves and compressors.

4.Electronic Security Systems such as alarm intrusion including all components, CCTV, gate controls, lock/access controls, basic P/A and sound, basic phone/cable/data/fiber/modem communication and all applicable system components.

5.Proper use of related tools, equipment, and testing devices associated with the position.

6.Ability to follow proper documentation procedures and record associated information with the position.

7.Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in close conjunction with other trades or departmental personnel of CWF/CWC as well as contractors working on all Colonial Williamsburg properties.

8.Ensures proper safety regulations and policies is adhered to in all aspects of responsibilities. Have the ability to identify and communicate effectively any safety issues related to electronics responsibilities.

9.Serves as expert in the mentoring and training for lower level technicians.

10. Assumes coordinator responsibilities in assisting Foreman with performing schedules, liaison contact, cost estimates, etc.

11. May provide "on call" coverage 24 hours/day.

12. This position requires the ability to work nights, weekends or shift work as required by Foreman, Mechanical Trades.

13. This position is deemed essential personal and is required to report whether the Foundation is closed or not, regardless of the emergency, weather related, or otherwise

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Completion of 10-12 years' experience in application of various types of life safety and property protection systems.

• Must possess a valid Commonwealth of Virginia driver's license and have an acceptable driving record based on The Colonial Williamsburg Foundations criteria.

• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

• Expert skill level and knowledge in the reading of basic electronic or electrical schematics, blueprints, and shop drawings.

• High school diploma or G.E.D. certificate required.

• Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds, ability to work at heights above 30 feet on ladders, scaffolds, and bucket trucks.

• Ability to work any shift, including nights, weekends, holidays and emergency calls.

• Employees may be required to participate as needed/requested regarding the department's monthly in-house Safety Program.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with Colonial Williamsburg Foundation properties;

• National F/A and B/A classes/certification; NFPA F/A and Sprinkler classes/certification;

• NICET Fire Alarm Systems Levels I & II;

• NICET Fire Alarm Systems Inspection and Testing Levels I & II;

• NICET Water Based Systems Inspection and Testing Levels I, II & III;

• NICET Video Security Systems Technician Levels I, II, III & IV
