What you will do for Harris County Precinct 4 (HCP4) Harris County Precinct 4 seeks a Master Electrician.

This position installs and repairs wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment at all of Precinct 4's facilities. Job Duties and Responsibilities: Plans new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and local electrical codes.

Prepares sketches showing location of wiring and equipment, or follows diagrams or blueprints, ensuring that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings, and flooring. Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assemble, and installs electrical conduit. Pulls wiring through conduit.

Repair lighting in office to sports field lights on 60' poles. Splices wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads, twisting or soldering wires together, and applying tape or terminal caps. Single Phase and Three Phase.

Troubleshoot water wells and lift stations. Connects wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment. Installs control and distribution apparatus such as switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels.

Connects power cables to equipment, such as electric range or motor, and installs grounding leads. Tests continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components with testing instruments such as ohmmeter, battery and buzzer, and oscilloscope. Observes functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.

Repairs faulty equipment or systems. Provide guidance and training to apprentice electricians on staff. High school diploma or general education degree (GED) Licensure: Valid Texas driver's license with a good driving record Valid Texas Master Electrician license or hold a valid license from another state and be willing to obtain a Texas license within six (6) months. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Ability to work with others and be team oriented. Flexible personality, open to new ideas, and suggestions. Good observation skills.

Initiative and perseverance to complete projects. Polite communication and direction to others as necessary. Proficient in reading and interpreting documents such as plans, specs, and related articles, operating instruction, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Can write routine reports and correspondence, maintain records; speak comfortably and effectively before other department heads on an informal basis. General Information Position Type, Salary and Typical Hours of Work: Regular | Full-time | 40 hours per week This may include weekends and holidays. Will be required to be on-call after hours.

May require working before, during, or after an emergency or disaster at the department's discretion. $65,000 - $85,000 (depending on experience) Physical Demands and Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle, feel and reach with hands and arms; frequently required to sit, climb, or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear and taste or smell. The carpenter must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is periodically exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat; vibration; night-time shifts; and routine use of a computer monitor. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
