RATE OF PAY: $20.00/hr + possible incentives
Under the direction of the Wellness Director or Coordinator and consistent with the mission of the YMCA of the Suncoast, the massage therapist is responsible for providing quality massage therapy services to all YMCA members. This program should enhance and grow our health offerings with a focus on relationship building.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
The Massage Therapist must possess the competence and confidence to administer a safe program for all adult participants. They must be responsible and at least 18 years of age and have the ability to cooperate and work with YMCA staff to provide a quality program. This person must hold a valid Massage Therapy license upon hire and must follow all guidelines required by the State of Florida, The Department of Health, and YMCA of the USA accepted practices. They must successfully meet the requirements of the Florida Department of Health including an acceptable Florida Department of Law Enforcement and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Livescan fingerprint criminal background screening. Before access to Personal Health Information (PHI), group HIPAA training required. Within 90 days of hire, CPR, AED, and First Aid certification required. Within 90 days of hire, Foundations of Listen First, Orientation to Healthy Living, Principles of Member Health and Wellness, Wellness Center at the Y or Group Exercise at the Y, and Intro to the Ys Cause and Culture trainings required. Get SMART preferred.
SPECIAL SKILLS OR EQUIPMENT REQUIRED:
This individual must familiarize themselves with YMCA rules and policies. Since this position is dealing directly with members, they must be able to articulate and communicate effectively with each member. They must also have the ability to work independently.
PHYSICAL AND/OR MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
This individual needs to be able to lift and carry at least 30 pounds. If individual must lift and carry more than 30 pounds, they must ask for assistance from another staff member. This individual will be required to stand for extended periods of time while demonstrating physical stamina and agility.
Provide massage services
Arrive prior to member's appointment to insure that room is properly set up.
Create a nurturing and safe environment by reporting suspicious activity that may lead to child abuse or may violate the code of conduct. Keep supplies organized, maintain and clean facility and care for equipment. Maintain room's cleanliness, including any and all bedding. Must make sure that the "Quiet Please" signs are outside the room when a massage is being conducted.
Must wear appropriate dress code uniform while on duty.
Ensure that all massage services are receipted at member service desk and provide system of documentation.
Respond back to members in a timely manner (no later than 24 hours) for all massage inquiries and be able to effectively schedule all appointments.
Always be enthusiastic and positive when working with members and staff.
Must know all emergency procedures and be able to administer first aid, if needed.
Must attend all staff meetings as required and any in-house trainings.
As directed and coordinated with supervisor in order to promote massage.
Follow all safety standards and personal policy set by the YMCA.
To report any new or continuing problem that may arise.
