Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a MARVEL Microreactor Lead to work in our Reactor Systems Design and Analysis department. Our team works a 9x80 schedule located out of our EROB facility in Idaho Falls with every other Friday off.

The MARVEL Microreactor Lead provides overall leadership for the Microreactor Applications Research, Validation & Evaluation (MARVEL) project including technical matters and project coordination. In performing this role, the MARVEL Microreactor Lead works closely with the Microreactor Program and MARVEL Project Managers and across INL directorates to support its development and implementation.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide and implement technical vision and leadership in the development and operation of MARVEL microreactor.

  • Engage and Support the Microreactor Program NTD and MARVEL Program Manager in interactions with and reporting to DOE-NE and DOE-ID relative to MARVEL issues, concerns, and accomplishments.

  • Contribute MARVEL project inputs to strategic planning activities for the DOE-NE Microreactor Program

  • Lead coordination of MARVEL development and operation as a liaison between R&D staff, MARVEL leadership, and INL leadership

  • Represent the MARVEL project in meetings, conferences, and workshops.

  • Develop collaborations with industry and leading nuclear universities and laboratories, and ensure partnerships are established to enhance and expand R&D opportunities that use the MARVEL microreactor.

  • Lead outreach activities ensuring that the broader partner community is engaged and informed of MARVEL progress.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master's degree plus 8 years of relevant experience or Ph.D plus 5 years relevant experience in Nuclear Engineering or related scientific or engineering field is required.

  • Knowledge of nuclear reactor technology and experience in development of nuclear reactors or nuclear reactor technologies.

  • Must be a US Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident.

  • Must be able to communicate complex concepts orally; prepare written reports and technical publications that are clear, concise, and meaningful.

  • Must be able to work with employees, management, advisory councils, and DOE to resolve complex technical issues and develop impactful strategies and executable plans

  • Subject to the requirements of DOE O 142.3B, Unclassified Foreign National Access Program

Job Information:

  • The pay range for this position is: Level #4 ($109,260.00 - $223,908.00) / Level #5 ($130,980.00 - $268,680.00). At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
