Position: Oklahoma Christian University invites applications for an assistant or associate marriage and family therapy professor position. The position can be a tenure-track or clinical appointment. Duties include teaching, supervising, and mentoring master's level MFT students and developing a line of research. Additional responsibilities may include delivering chapel devotionals, supporting recruiting and accreditation efforts, general representation of the university during public events, and collaborating with local industries.

Primary Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree in Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) (or ABD);

  • State of Oklahoma marriage and family therapy license holder, or licensed eligible;

  • Preferred areas of expertise and/or skill sets: trauma-informed processes and procedures, State of Oklahoma approved clinical supervisor, AAMFT Approved Supervisor status preferred but "at least" baseline of AAMFT Approved Supervisor candidate status required; expertise in child and adolescent treatment OR expert clinical skills in an outcome-based MFT model that would complement the skill set of our current faculty;

  • Ability to effectively communicate with and serve as a role model for graduate students, both in and out of the classroom and/or clinic;

  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity and the ability to communicate and positively engage students and colleagues across racial, gender, and cultural barriers.

  • Active engagement in a life of Christian faith and service includes membership in a local church.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work in conjunction with the Chair of the School of Human Sciences to develop a vision for the new marriage and family therapy program,

  • Conducting and publishing research, securing grants, and performing other scholarly activities.

  • Teaching, mentoring, and clinically supervising graduate students/therapists-in-training; occasional undergraduate teaching opportunities available.

  • Providing service to the department, university, community, and broader professional disciplines.

  • Engaging in responsibilities consistent with a Christian university and Christian education mission.

  • Fulfilling other duties as required or assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • A record of, or demonstrated potential for, university, college, or professional teaching.

  • A record of, or demonstrated potential for, high-quality research and dissemination of findings in professional outlets.

  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with multiple constituencies.

  • The successful candidate must provide evidence of employment eligibility as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability or experience with applied, community-based, and/or translational research at the intersections of child/family functioning and physical health or emphasizing issues impacting historically under-served or marginalized populations.

  • Demonstrated teaching ability using multiple modalities (e.g., online, in-person, hybrid).

  • Demonstrated commitment to professional and community service.

  • Other duties as co-created and assigned in conjunction with the Chair.
