Qualifications:

1.Must be able to read, write and speak English effectively.

2.Must be able to make simple arithmetic calculations accurately, have training and be able to read mechanical drawings and be able to keep records.

3.Must have mechanical aptitude and a reasonable amount of strength and agility.

4.Must have knowledge of the distribution system and understand the construction and operation of Distribution Division equipment and tools.

5.Must have a Connecticut driver's license and experience in driving motor vehicles.

6.Must be able to work independently, with a minimum of supervision.

Duties:

1.Reads, interprets and understands Distribution maps and records concerning the location of underground facilities.

2.Operates, cleans and reports any repairs concerning mark-out equipment.

3.Accurately locates and marks out underground facilities related to Distribution operations, as required.

4.Makes sketches of existing facilities not recorded, or incorrectly recorded, on the Distribution records.

5.Is responsible for the safe operation of company vehicle.

6.Makes live service taps as required.

7.When not marking-out underground facilities, assists in other duties of the Distribution Division.

8.Directs the work of one or more helpers, as required.

9.Assists other Distribution employees in proper use of mark-out equipment, as required.

This is a DOT safety-sensitive position. Any applicant transferring into this department from a non-safety sensitive position will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
