The Marketing Senior Analyst gathers data and performs analyses necessary to develop and evaluate UPS' Marketing Strategy. He/She consults with internal subject matter experts to assist in identifying the best approach to gather information and solve business issues. The Marketing Senior Analyst follows relevant trends, works with Marketing Research, and conducts customer visits to understand customer needs. He/She uses in-house reporting tools and secondary data sources to gather data for analyses and decision-making. This position provides insight to other marketing groups to help them create a plan to position the correct value proposition for customers to improve marketing initiatives. This position summarizes and communicates the results of the analyses to key stakeholders throughout the organization.

The Marketing Senior Analyst is eligible for potential opportunities in UPS Marketing including: Customer Technology Marketing, International Marketing, Marketing Research, Marketing Strategy, New Product Development, Ocean & Freight Forwarding, Pricing/Revenue Management, Product Marketing, and Segment Marketing.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Develops subject matter expertise on internal and external sources of information (e.g., customer data, market data, industry data, etc.) for analyses to provide information for decision making

  • Identifies the key trends in each region/product to determine how they impact customers, industry, competitors, and UPS

  • Consults with subject matter experts to develop a complete understanding of the relevant trends

  • Prioritizes key trends to better understand and clarify UPS's ability to reach growth targets

  • Develops Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) analyses of key competitors to identify market advantages and disadvantages

  • Follows relevant trends, works with Marketing Research, and conducts customer visits to understand customer needs

Knowledge and Skills

  • Develops Situational Assessments: Demonstrates understanding of the hierarchy, relationships, and required consistency between levels of objectives and strategies (corporate, marketing, and segment); identifies potential marketing objectives and strategies along with the rationale for each

  • Applies Problem Definition & Structuring

    Identifies key factors behind basic problems and establish a path to solve them; proposes approaches to solve more complicated problems; investigates and diagnoses anomalies in routine business results
  • Develops Marketing Objectives and Strategies: Demonstrates understanding of the hierarchy, relationships, and required consistency between levels of objectives and strategies (corporate, marketing, and segment); identifies potential marketing objectives and strategies along with the rationale for each

  • Conducts Environmental Scanning: Maintains basic awareness of potential regulations that could impact product or segment; monitors emerging technologies and potential impact on the ways transportation and logistics companies serve customers

  • Statistical Analysis: Demonstrates a basic knowledge of statistical terminology and understanding of analyses and/or tests (e.g. measures of central tendency, standard deviation, correlation, analysis of variance (ANOVA), simple linear regression, significance testing, etc.); displays the ability to calculate basic statistics

  • Applies Economic Analysis and Forecasting

    Demonstrates understanding of UPS's business and the economic factors that drive it; identifies economic indicators that correlate with industry, UPS, and segment business performance; develops basic forecasting models
  • Project Management: Demonstrates understanding of implementation objectives, project plan, and one's role within a project; participates in the implementation of a project; provides timely, thorough, and concise updates for area of responsibility; identifies areas of risk and properly communicates them to the project manager

  • Applies Service, Product, and Customer Technology

    Demonstrates a basic understanding of products, services, and customer facing technology solutions offered by UPS along with their features and business applications; describes general customer profiles targeted by the company
  • Master's in Business Administration (or internationally comparable degree)

Working collaboratively across the organization, this role will be a thought-leader responsible for designing and managing leadership development solutions for all stages of a leader's journey including new leader onboarding, continuous leader development, and high potential/executive development programs. The successful candidate will have extensive experience utilizing multiple approaches to develop leaders, be comfortable and confident interacting with senior leadership, possess excellent business acumen, drive execution, and demonstrate business impact. MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES * Determine learner capabilities and learner needs by reviewing job requirements, experiencing the learner's environment, connecting with learners and leaders closest to the role, and evaluating key metrics and connect with business partners to stay current on the needs of the business. * Develop strategy for assigned content areas (content area plan) and recommend solutions to business partners that address learner needs to increase associate competence and confidence. Collaborate with other LSMs to ensure assigned content areas are represented. Determine and maintain effectiveness of content areas. * Work with learning Design & Development, Technology, and/or Delivery teams to determine the most effective learning solutions for assigned content areas and communicate solutions to business partners * Create learning plans for assigned job roles based on learner needs.
