What You Will Do

Gannett Fleming is looking for an experienced Marketing Strategist in Southern California, where we have offices in Los Angeles, San Marcos, and Irvine, to support our expansion goals in California and throughout our West Region. The strategist will work with our Regional Director and leadership across various business lines, including Transportation, Water, Facilities, Earth Sciences, and Construction Services, to successfully drive growth through a coordinated branding strategy and strategic marketing activities.

The successful candidate must be a strategist-doer, responsible not only for executing a formal marketing program but also for helping to develop the strategy behind it. Typical tasks include preparing marketing plans, campaigns, and budgets, as well as performing competitive intelligence, market research analysis and recommendations, thought leadership programs, advertisements, collateral materials, award submissions, video, direct mail, signage, trade show management, event planning, and web content, among other marketing activities. All deliverables demand impactful writing, targeted strategy in support of marketing and business goals, and standards of brand excellence.

Principal Responsibilities and essential functions

  • Lead development and execution of marketing plans and associated budgets; align marketing strategy with Gannett Fleming's Corporate Strategic Action Plan and specific regional business line annual business plans.

  • Understand business line positioning and differentiation strategies; implement tactics to grow a thought leadership program; and evaluate metrics for measuring effectiveness of marketing efforts.

  • Maximize use of customer relationship management (CRM) system to support business development efforts.

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts in AEC industry to develop and maintain a portfolio of integrated marketing materials based on strategic market planning.

  • Steer, coordinate, and support trade show and special event strategy and program development, including pre-positioning and post-event follow up.

  • Develop website content and work with creative team to produce multimedia presentations/videos; collaborate with corporate communications team to ensure digital marketing strategy is reflected in social media channels (Facebook, blogs, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram and YouTube).

  • Research key competitors/markets and effectively communicate research findings to management and assigned business line to chart growth strategies, develop positioning strategy and differentiation tactics, and impact successful penetration/expansion into new markets.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Licensing requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications, or related field

  • 8-10 years of progressive marketing experience

  • Willingness to obtain Certified Professional Services Marketer (CPSM) or Professional Certified Marketer (PCM) accreditation.

Training, Skills, Knowledge and/or experience

  • Exceptional planning, project management, attention-to-detail, and coordination skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and experience to work with employees at all levels of the organization.

  • Excellent writing skills with ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

  • Skilled at translating complex subjects into communications for broad audiences.

  • The ability to facilitate broad cross-functional teams.

  • Ability to successfully multi-task to meet deliverables, as well as routinely prioritize major initiatives and tasks.

  • Expertise in a wide variety of communication delivery vehicles, including video, podcasting, website content management and CRM systems, and social media.

  • Proficient in AP Style and able to write clearly and succinctly with a high-level of accuracy, using proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation.

  • Willingness to travel to Gannett Fleming offices and participate in industry events and professional conferences.

  • Proven experience in ensuring budgets and schedules meet requirements.

  • Knowledge of layout and graphic design principles to direct art projects.

  • Strong PC skills, including Microsoft Office applications, Excel, and PowerPoint.

YOU won't regret it!</p><p><br></p><p><strong>GENERAL FUNCTION: </strong> As a member of the Development Department, the Public Relations &amp; Marketing Specialist develops, implements and oversees all functions of Casa de Amparo’s marketing, public relations, social media, websites, branding and employee communications. This position is responsible for the creative design, written content and execution of all external marketing publications, press releases, online communications and internal/external marketing documents with the goal of securing resources for the organization and increasing constituent engagement. This position reports to the Director of Development and coordinates regularly with the Executive Director and members of the Development Department.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>MAJOR TASKS:</strong></p><p>Marketing</p><ul> <li>Develop and carryout an annual Marketing and PR Strategy to support the Development Department goals and organizational objectives.</li> <li>Implement and maintain all PR and marketing materials such as collateral, brochures, special events, website and social media, as well as publicity such as presentations and speaking opportunities.</li> <li>Oversee Annual Report, Special Asks and Newsletters in collaboration with Director of Development and Executive Director.</li> <li>Manage maintenance of content for the agency’s website in collaboration with the IT Manager and others as assigned.</li> <li>Coordinate production, printing and mailing of newsletter and other solicitation material. Oversee archiving of materials, as appropriate. </li> <li>Develop, write and edit marketing/collateral materials, ensuring adequate supply of materials are available for staff as needed.</li> <li>Conduct surveys to gain audience information in collaboration with the Director of Development and Director of Human Resources.</li> </ul><p>Branding</p><ul> <li>Maintain the organization’s brand and identity and integrate into all communication.</li> <li>Ensure staff throughout the organization are utilizing the brand properly and provide updates as appropriate.</li> </ul><p>Corporate/Organization Relationships</p><ul> <li>Develop and position Casa de Amparo to begin cause-marketing relationships to bring in corporate funds, resources and public awareness for the organization. </li> <li>Cultivate new relationships with organizations and corporations who want to get involved, including speaking engagements, in-kind drives and sponsorships.</li> <li>Attend corporate events, community-based events, etc. to promote volunteer and Board Leadership opportunities.</li> </ul><p><strong>Public Relations</strong></p><ul> <li>Provide tours of Casa de Amparo sites while respecting needs of clients/program/staff.</li> <li>Develop and implement a yearly PR and Publicity Plan including press releases, PSAs, e-communications, social media, special interest stories and special events.</li> <li>Develop and maintain relationships with local media to pursue opportunities to increase the organization’s visibility in the community. </li> <li>Act as organization’s primary media contact in a responsive and professional manner. </li> <li>Assure client media releases are obtained in accordance with licensing requirements.</li> <li>Provide reports on presentations, media tours and other PR activities each month.</li> <li>Maintain standard PowerPoint presentation and talking points for agency presentations.</li> <li>Attend speaking engagements and check presentations. Oversee the coordination and scheduling of speakers for public presentations and site tours. </li> <li>Assist with the execution of Casa de Amparo’s Crisis Communication Plan as needed. </li> <li>Develop and execute a cross-platform press plan to publicize the organization’s Capital Campaign to the public.</li> <li>Research and solicit local awards and recognition. </li> <li>Update the organization video, as appropriate.</li> </ul><ul> <li>Train and lead the Board of Directors Public Relations Committee to represent Casa de Amparo in the community, guided by the organization’s Marketing Strategy.</li> <li>Co-facilitate monthly meetings with the Chairperson and Director of Development to motivate and organize committee outreach efforts.</li> </ul><p><strong>Events</strong></p><ul> <li>Assist with outreach efforts in collaboration with Development Department to increase attendance at special events.</li> <li>Participate in planning and execution of special events including items leading up to events, set up/break down, and post-event reporting.</li> <li>Coordinate all press coverage, speakers, photos and videos at events.</li> </ul><p><strong>Social Media</strong></p><ul> <li>Ensure regular posts to social media platforms to include Casa de Amparo news, events, client successes, etc.</li> <li>Create and launch a crowd funding campaign in collaboration with Development Team.</li> <li>Increase Casa de Amparo employee’s engagement in the organization’s social media.</li> <li>Create informative posts about collaborations with community partners and cross promotion of Casa de Amparo supporters.</li> </ul><p>Internal Communications</p><ul> <li>Organize quarterly “Lunch with the Executive Director” meetings for agency updates.</li> <li>Distribute updates regarding recent organization and event coverage in the media.</li> <li>Participate on Booster of Morale (BOM) Committee and create/ distribute employee newsletters in collaboration with the Director of Human Resources.</li> </ul><p><strong>Requirements</strong></p><ul> <li>Bachelor’s Degree preferred.</li> <li>Minimum three years’ relevant experience in marketing and/or public relations (PR), branding strategies and excellent public speaking abilities required.</li> <li>Must have strong organization, verbal and interpersonal communications skills and be deadline, detail and “big picture” oriented.</li> <li>Must possess public speaking, media relations and social media experience.</li> <li>Proficient with MS Office Suite, Adobe Suite (InDesign and Photoshop preferred) and graphic design skills or ability/desire to learn design software.</li> <li>Excellent writing, grammar and editing ability required.</li> <li>Must be professional, flexible and able to respond to multiple demands and fluctuating priorities utilizing problem-solving skills.</li> <li>Must possess reliable personal transportation and be approved by the organization’s insurance carrier to drive personal vehicle. </li> <li>Non-profit, fundraising experience and website development experience a plus.</li> <li>Must have auditory, visual and physical skills to be able to perform tasks as outlined in this job description.</li> </ul><ul><li>Must be able to be associated with Casa de Amparo through Community Care Licensing (CCL), which includes clearance by FBI, DOJ and CACI.</li></ul><p><strong>Benefits</strong></p><p>Salary is $49,920 annually.</p><p>Medical, dental, vision, employer paid life insurance, LTD, EAP, 403(b) retirement plan, 12 paid holidays annually , Paid day off on your birthday, 8 days paid sick leave, PLUS a generous vacation package which includes 3 WEEKS paid vacation annually for the first 1-3 years of employment, 4 WEEKS of vacation annually for years 4 &amp; 5, and 5 WEEKS of vacation annually for 6+ years of employment!<br></p><p><strong>Other benefits: </strong>free coffee &amp; snacks, fun staff appreciation events, discounted tickets to special events hosted by Casa de Amparo, random free ticket offerings, free flu shots, Therapy Dog Tuesdays, &amp; Walking Wednesdays, Lunch with Executive Director, flowers to brighten up the office, inspiring coworkers and work environment, and more!</p><p><br></p> Casa De Amparo San Marcos CA
