MARKETING & SALES MANAGER (Full Time)

JOB SUMMARY

Under general direction of the Convention & Visitors Bureau Administrator, the Marketing & Sales Manager will be responsible for executing the CVB's strategic plan related to marketing, community engagement, and sales to promote the City of Richardson as a destination for meetings, events & travel. This position will work with tourism related stakeholders and other City departments to promote Richardson attractions, accommodations, restaurants, retail, recreation facilities, as well as the arts, special events and festivals.

The position is responsible for increasing overnight stays through sales activities to establish the RCVB as a resource to meeting planners and stimulate sales. In addition, the Marketing & Sales Manager will work in collaboration with other City departments to implement festivals, events, and emergency response efforts.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Marketing & Advertising: Ensure all areas of marketing and advertising are on brand, accurate, up to date, on time and on budget.

Responsible for maintenance, management and/or coordination of the RCVB's website, social media channels, promotional campaigns, marketing materials and collateral. Coordinate the creative implementation and execution of print, digital and other marketing campaigns, initiatives, and other supporting elements.

Community Engagement: Develop relationships, acquire personal knowledge, and maintain database of community and regional tourism related businesses, organizations and stakeholders and synergistically match those businesses with client resource needs.

Plan and execute regular stakeholder meetings. Develop and maintain a mailing list of tourism stakeholders and produce a RCVB newsletter. Work with tourism related businesses for procurement of items for RCVB's promotion of overnight stays and the City's annual fundraising efforts.

Sales & Service: Conduct proactive sales efforts through prospecting and relationship building through various methods.

Exhibit at industry trade shows requiring overnight travel. Collect bids from hotels for potential and established clients. Engage in public contact to promote Richardson and the support of convention and visitor services.

General: Communicate courteously and effectively with the public, the business community, other employees, and officials, in person, in writing, and by telephone - sometimes in stressful situations.

Provide superior customer service. Work effectively in a team environment and respectfully interact with team members and individuals to develop and maintain positive, effective working relationships. Make recommendations to the Administrator regarding budget allocations needed to support job efforts.

Maintain Salesforce planner and tourism stakeholder visits, leads, and campaigns. Work community events when needed.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS AND PHYSICAL CAPABILITIES

Coordinate rooms for staff support and resident displacement during emergency response efforts. Effectively represent the city in professional organizations and/or outside activities, participating in networking and training as needed.

Remain current with emerging industry, marketing, and technology trends. Assist the public with questions requiring knowledge of RCVB and other City departments. Use personal vehicle to run errands and attend meetings.

Move supplies weighing up to 35 pounds. Work evening and weekend assignments as needed. Keep assigned work area and equipment neat and in good working order.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, DEGREES, CERTIFICATES AND/OR LICENSES

Bachelor's degree required in tourism, marketing, hospitality management, communications, or closely related field. Significant industry experience may be considered in lieu of a college degree.

Must have reliable transportation and a valid Texas driver's license required.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS

Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in marketing, sales, hospitality management, or communications preferably at least three years of recent hospitality or tourism marketing and/or sales preferably with a CVB or city government. Must possess the ability to maintain accurate records; type and enter data accurately, have exceptional organizational and decision-making skills, have a positive attitude, strong work ethic, high energy level, and be enthusiastic and a positive thinker.

Must possess strong customer service and time management skills. Must be proficient in the English language with excellent interpersonal, social, and public relations skills. Must have the ability to develop and effectively make presentations to groups and respond to questions.

Must be able to operate computer for internet use, word processing, data entry/manipulation, and produce brochures, flyers, and promotional materials, frequently sitting for long periods of time. Must be proficient in: Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, SharePoint, OneDrive and Outlook), as well as digital and media tools (WordPress, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, and other social media platforms deemed appropriate). Experience with Salesforce, Adobe Creative Suite and monitoring tools such as (Google Analytics) preferred.

Discern colors and see effectively to prepare and review promotional materials. Proofread printed & digital materials. Must be able to work effectively independently and within a team environment.

This position is eligible for up to $2,500 hiring incentive
