About the job

The Red Hat Executive Communications team is looking for an Executive Communications Strategist to join our team in Raleigh, NC or remotely. In this role, you'll help envision, create, publish, and track content that improves how Red Hat executives communicate, advising on and delivering both executive and organizational communications. You'll be responsible for executive-level content strategy and creation for Red Hat Global Engineering and Products teams' activities and partner with communications colleagues across the company to carry out plans. You'll also have the opportunity to work with the teams that design, build, market, and support Red Hat's offerings, in addition to our executive leadership.

As an Executive Communications Strategist, you should have a passion for connecting people and ideas, be curious about technology, be able to translate technical concepts into easy-to-understand language, and know how to craft effective communications for a more technical audience. Previous content-creation experience like corporate communications, journalism, or PR and knowledge of enterprise technology are a big plus. Candidates based in the Boston, MA or Raleigh, NC area will be preferred, but remote candidates will also be considered.

What you will do

  • Partner closely with executive leadership to write, edit, review, and oversee release of communication documents and presentations that support the organization

  • Create, edit, and enhance communication materials, including intranet content, newsletter articles, emails, blog posts, and live events

  • Develop and maintain a communications strategy and editorial calendar, mapping audiences for the variety of needs encompassed in Red Hat Global Engineering and Products teams

  • Review essential and sometimes confidential internal communications prior to distribution to ensure accuracy, clarity, and appropriateness

  • Coordinate communication efforts with other communications and branding teams in Red Hat

  • Work closely with executive management teams and departments to stay informed of developments and trends within the organization

  • Assist with the development and implementation of new and existing communication vehicles

What you will bring

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, professional writing and editing, journalism, or a related field or equivalent experience

  • 5+ years of related work experience

  • Proficiency in office suite tools, preferably Google Workspace

  • Excellent knowledge of English language and grammar

  • Ability to translate technical concepts into clear, concise language

  • Ability to work as part of a fast-paced distributed team, while demonstrating flexibility and initiative

  • Interest in open source and the open source development model

  • Willingness to learn and understand enterprise technologies at a high level; deep technical knowledge is not required

  • Familiarity with the enterprise software market, including key market trends and technologies, is a plus
