The Red Hat Marketing team is looking for a Vice President of Product Portfolio Marketing to join us in Westford, MA. In this role, you will manage the overall go-to-market strategy and messaging framework for Red Hat's portfolio of products, technologies, and solutions aligned with our corporate strategy and technical priorities. Reporting to the Head of Products and Technologies and partnering closely with the Corporate Marketing role, you'll serve as a point of contact across all business units, product lines, and services offerings, as well as a contact between product and corporate marketing. You'll champion the overall portfolio and open hybrid cloud architecture, and serve as a vital spokesperson to internal and external audiences.
To succeed in this role, you'll need to be experienced with positioning a portfolio of products aimed at technical and business buyers, ideally with a background combining product marketing, product management, and business leadership. You'll be responsible for multiple areas, including: go-to-market programs, vertical marketing, portfolio competitive, portfolio architecture, get to market programs, and portfolio and product enablement. Experience at a large company and start-up is helpful, with the need to get involved, and scale in a fast-growth environment. Using data driven insights, influential skills, and credible market knowledge, you'll partner closely with other leaders across corporate marketing, product management, engineering, chief technologists, and field organizations to bring market intelligence and the voice of the customer to internal operations, and to implement compelling go-to-market strategies and successful launches.
What you will do
Influence portfolio strategy and direction through content and research that connects people with opportunities
Create and enable compelling content for customer and partner conversations
Amplify Red Hat's presence in the market through subject matter expertise, analyst relations and advocacy
Guide positioning and messaging that supports scaling our core business and extends Red Hat to Cloud Services and Edge architecture and portfolio
Empower the field and partners to increase demand with enablement, solid messaging, and differentiation
Manage cross-portfolio and cross organizational product marketing initiatives, bringing together and aligning all business units and product teams to tell an integrated, portfolio story to the field and the market
Guide close collaboration with product marketing and product groups to ensure common go-to-market themes, sales enablement processes, and product launches
Serve as the voice of the customer and the market, using data, deployment patterns, and customer implementations to create compelling go-to-market programs and portfolio use cases
Support partners and customers as they convert emerging technologies into compelling solutions based on Red Hat's portfolio
Meet with customers and partners to identify and understand key customer challenges and market gaps, and to help increase awareness, cross sell and up sell, and improve overall customer and partner engagement
Manage strategic plans for analyst relations, working closely with the AR team and other product marketers, to achieve a coherent portfolio story and positive analyst relationships
Use customer and competitive insights to increase awareness of behaviors and motivations for our customers and prospects; bring customer insights across sales, marketing, and product teams in a consistent and structured way
Manage enterprise wide collaboration and product marketing best practices
Actively seek out opportunities for better alignment, collaboration, and efficiencies to create solid impact and value to product groups
What you will bring
15+ years of relevant product marketing experience with increasing responsibility
Experience leading a large team directly and indirectly influencing other organizations
Experience working in a matrixed organization with success sponsoring, collaborating, and influencing initiatives across teams
10+ years of software industry experience with a clear understanding of the open source development model
Combination of visionary, strategic, and pragmatic skills, encompassing excellent strategic product marketing abilities and practical tactical involvement
Proven success dealing with complexity at a global level, across multiple channels and multiple product lines, with regard to multiple competitors and partners, and broadly with the market as a whole
Demonstrated ability to create world-class sales tools and educate a global sales force
Excellent creative and content creation talent; capable of shaping product marketing strategy and delivering compelling content that increases awareness, expertise, and demand
Demonstrated ability to manage local and remote product marketing associates, while building solid collaboration and team core values
Experience leading large virtual teams and leading by influence to increase alignment and results
Highly effective consultative and influencing approach with demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and work with cross functional teams
Ability to recognize change and adapt accordingly
Ability to manage complexity and build trust and credibility with senior leaders and stakeholders
Record of working with analysts, press, partners, and other influencer communities
Experience developing and presenting product marketing selling content, including positioning, messaging and solution selling concepts or themes
Proven record of success in a fast moving, technical environment
Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
Solid technical knowledge, with ability to explain customer requirements and use cases to engineering teams
