THIS POSITION IS A HYBRID ROLE BASED OUT OF BLOOMFIELD, CT.
Payer Solutions wholesales various solutions to Payers, including Third Party Administrators (TPAs), health plans and insurers.
The atmosphere is more entrepreneurial in nature, requiring creative problem-solving, innovation and the ability to effectively set priorities based on conflicting resource availability and customer needs. The ability to function independently and work effectively with various matrix partners and teams is critical. Successful candidates will be able to work effectively in a rapidly evolving environment.
General Description
Lead strategic product development and management that supports the segment value proposition and membership growth goals. Lead market and segment analysis, product definition, competitive assessment and pricing strategies, ensuring that products deliver superior value to customers. Monitor the market and adjust product offerings, pricing, promotion, and packaging based on market conditions, competitive landscape, and market feedback.
Success will be achieved through strong, proactive partnerships with areas such as Network/Provider Contracting, Segment/Sales Leaders, Pricing, Finance, Marketing, Product, Sales/Sales Operations and Service Operations. Results will be measured in the growth, persistency and earnings of the segment as well as individual business case objectives.
Position is individual contributor role but candidate must have both a Market and a P&L orientation with well-developed matrix management, analytical and influencing skills to accomplish set objectives.
Core Responsibilities
Lead development of near term/short term new product planning as well as long term product strategy and vision as well as segment product owner/subject matter expert for assigned products.
Must understand and be able to apply key macro trends, environmental forces and company strengths and weaknesses and assess their impact on our strategy.
Works closely with business leadership to develop business case justification for new products/or features including financial justifications and ROI analysis to drive resource and investment decisions
Execute on strategic plans by designing tactical approaches to achieve product delivery, including operational components
Craft product messaging, positioning and differentiation strategies for existing and new products and effectively communicate value proposition and business value to key customers and the market.
Develop tools, training, and communications specific to this unique buying cohort; facilitate training as necessary
Partner with Marketing to support development of marketing collateral to drive growth, including value proposition messaging, incentive programs/marketing campaigns, and product standards
Define requirements for new product integration projects and enhancements to existing products
Work closely with Sales and Proposal area to support RFP responses and client presentations
Specify segment requirements for current and future products by conducting market and competitive research supported by strong enterprise relationships.
Solve non-standard product requests via the Exceptions Review Committee, balancing needs for growth with efficient operations, service, and enterprise and product strategy.
Assist the Sales and Service teams troubleshooting service issues, helping to root cause, and driving best practices
Occasionally may be required to be the SME at client meetings
Qualifications and Abilities:
Bachelors degree and 5+ years experience in insurance industry preferred
Technical understanding of product and customer requirements along with ability to organize large and small scale product development and management initiatives.
Understanding of financial, marketing, and strategy concepts a plus
Strong communication skills with ability to convey complex and technical information in an understandable way
Ability to analyze complex information and draw relevant conclusions
Ability to foster collaboration with internal partners that support product development and management
Ability to think strategically, drive results and implement tactically
Is able to re-prioritize often and quickly shift gears between projects
Strategic and creative thinker with ability to think outside the box and translate strategies and customer insights into actions/requirements/implementation
Strong presentation skills
Preferences:
Prior client facing experience a plus
Expert knowledge of the healthcare industry and the Payer Segment (Third Party Administration)
Expertise in the Cigna organization, business processes and workflows to facilitate execution of initiatives.
