VIEW JOBS 12/5/2019 12:00:00 AM 2020-03-04T00:00 Job Function: The Dietrich College of Humanities and Social Sciences at Carnegie Mellon University is looking for a dynamic, engaging, organized and detail-orientated individual to manage the Dietrich College Pittsburgh Summer Internship Program for academic year 2019-2020. This program's planning cycle begins in late summer/early fall for the development of internship opportunities that will take place in summer 2020 for students in the Dietrich College. Now entering its third year, this highly successful program annually assembles a marketplace for Pittsburgh-area internship sponsors and undergraduate students seeking meaningful summer internships. It recruits, screens and selects both internship sponsors and eligible students, and opens this market to admitted students to apply for summer internship positions with the approved sponsors. Most sponsors are non-profit or public sector organizations or start-ups with limited financial means. To compensate students for meaningful but unpaid (or modestly paid) summer internships, the Dietrich College provides summer funding for student interns. This is a half-time position and a wonderful opportunity for someone who wants to play a central role at the intersection of undergraduates' formal education and experiential learning to optimize the extent to which these domains supplement and complement each other. Under the direct supervision of Assistant Dean Ana Maria Ulloa-Shields, you will: * Engage with numerous constituents playing a role in the program's operations and success including the Internship Program Committee, other members of the College and University communities, and organizations seeking (or selected) to join the program's internship marketplace. * Organize and lead PSIP Committee meetings, as well as additional sessions with other program stakeholders (internal and external to the university). * Lead all efforts pertaining to program development and implementation, student recruitment and organization recruitment through varied marketing and communication strategies. * Serve as the primary point of contact for: * Students interested in applying to the program, with those accepted into the program, and with prior program participants. * Prospective and participating organizations. * Manage the application process for both students and organizations, including approving internship positions in Handshake, CMU's online recruitment platform. * Submit student stipends for payment. * Maintain close communication with students participating in the program throughout the summer. * Plan a minimum of two social events for students participating in the program during the summer months. * Plan relevant professional development workshops for students participating in the program. * Develop Best Practices guides for both students and organizations, in collaboration with the Career and Professional Development Center. * Conduct evaluations with students and employers throughout the summer to gauge satisfaction with the program, the interns and the internship. * Work with the college's web services and communications team to maintain and update the program's website and to showcase the program to both internal and external audiences. * Collect, organize and analyze data from all program constituents and stakeholders to assess the program's impact and success. Interested applicants should submit a resume and cover letter. Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree (Master's degree preferred) either in an academic discipline in the humanities and/or social/behavioral sciences, or in relevant areas of higher education, counseling and program management. * 2-3 years' work experience in a role either directly or indirectly related to experiential learning and program management in a higher education setting. * Knowledge of student and career development theories is preferred.
