As part of our marketing team you will focus on retention and engagement, driving strategy and execution around email, push notification, newsletters and more. Connecting with the millions of people who use Duolingo everyday, you'll be able to immediately see the impact of your work and help us advance our mission of making language learning accessible to everyone.


  • Own the Duolingo email channel, including marketing campaigns, newsletters and triggered and transactional emails. Initiate end-to-end execution of our email campaigns, including development, launching and analysis.

  • Create thoughtful, personalized triggered communications that will drive customer engagement, maintain the fun, accessible nature of the Duolingo brand, and support the company's strategic goals.

  • Analyze performance of email strategies and campaigns and drive continuous optimization of performance, considering factors such as seasonality, customer segments, competitor behavior, historical successes.

  • Use analytics to make decisions; A/B test, analyze results and build updates accordingly.

  • Perform regular list hygiene to maintain health of our database.

  • Take an entrepreneurial approach to the role, working collaboratively with other teams to support key initiatives and get things done.


  • 5+ years of experience in marketing, with a focus on email and knowledge of email best practices, key performance drivers, and toolsets.

  • Experience in content creation and a love of writing.

  • Knowledge of the technical side of email marketing; deliverability, CAN SPAM compliance, and more.

  • Excellent knowledge of HTML/CSS/JavaScript.

  • Experience designing and implementing A/B and multivariate tests.

  • Experience building, growing and optimizing engagement and retention campaigns.

  • Ability to relocate to Pittsburgh, PA

In addition, this position will drive communication strategies, supervise and facilitate marketing communications across all platforms including leadership and continuous improvement of the marketing on-boarding and learning process for new Sales Reps. Responsibilities also include leading the strategic evolution of the Fisher Scientific channel brand. This role leads a team of three colleagues; Manager of Marketing and Commercial Communications, Sr. Marketing Specialist, Marketing Programs and Marketing Program Coordinator. This role will collaborate effectively across the organization with a special focus on strong partnerships with Portfolio Management, Sales, and Finance. Key Responsibilities: * In collaboration with the Director Strategic Marketing, develop the North America annual marketing plan designing cross-category merchandising and marketing programs to support goals in alignment with Marketing, Sales, Portfolio Management, and Finance. * Using analytics and insights, continuously refine marketing programs to improve profitability and relevance for internal and end customers. * Develop, review and continually refine a promotions strategy for the channel to drive improved margin realization, SOW growth, new customer acquisition and high customer satisfaction. * Lead the strategy and operational management of the channel's New Lab Start-Up Program and other strategic programs to attract, engage, and reward customer loyalty while providing a best-in-class Customer experience. * Partner with Marketing Analytics and Insights, Digital Marketing, and The Studio to develop and execute strategies to grow the Advantage Program. Consider development of "next step" programs to nurture high potential Advantage customer segments or other growing small-mid size customer segments into programs that create lifelong value for customers and for our business. * Lead the strategic planning process for the channel's Lab Reporter magazine. * Evaluate and continuously evolve existing and new communications channels and platforms to drive high-engagement and satisfaction across all segments of our Commercial organization and ultimately delivery of the most relevant content to our end customers. * Partner with the Sales Training team to facilitate the delivery of relevant marketing learning experiences for our New Sales Reps. * Serve as the strategic lead on the evolution of the Fisher Scientific channel brand. * Lead and develop a highly engaged, high performance marketing programs and communications team. Minimum Requirements/Qualifications: * Bachelors degree in marketing or communications * 7+ years marketing experience working in a large, complex organization * Excellent customer service orientation * Prior marketing and/or product merchandising experience in a B2C or B2B environment * Demonstrated track record of success in the strategic development and end-to-end of execution of marketing campaigns that deliver incremental financial value * Prior experience using data, qualitative and quantitative inputs to refine marketing strategies * Self-starter with the ability to take projects from concept through to execution with a high attention for detail and proficiency in managing complexity * Innovative thinker who is creative, curious, and continuously looking at opportunities for improvement * Ability to function in a complex, matrix business environment is essential * Excellent written and oral communication skills, including presentation experience to large and diverse audiences * Strong organizational skills with the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time * Experience in a people management/leadership role Non-Negotiable Hiring Criteria: * Bachelors degree in marketing or communications * 7+ years marketing experience working in a large, complex organization. * Self-starter with the ability take projects from concept through to execution with a high attention for detail and proficiency in managing complexity * Experience managing and developing people This position has not been approved for Relocation Assistance.
