Job Description

The PepsiCo Foodservice (FS) Division leverages innovation to accelerate growth and build competitive advantage, and we lead with consumer insights to develop strong innovation strategy rooted in consumer/operator empathy. This role is integral in building the Foodservice innovation agenda and helps to set strategic direction by unlocking data-driven, actionable insights & providing a more holistic understanding of new business models and innovation.

This role is responsible for driving insights in support of the innovation agenda across our equipment and product innovation teams and reports to the Senior Director of Foodservice Beverage Innovation. Key projects that this role will support include: Project Bobcat, Snackbot, and a variety of frozen / fountain beverage innovations across core brands such as Pepsi, Mountain Dew, bubly, Lipton, Tropicana, and Stubborn.

Responsibilities include:

  • Strategic thought partnership to guide equipment and product innovation ideation and commercialization

  • Design research plans against business objectives, timelines and budget for the short-term Innovation agenda within Foodservice

  • Partner in developing marketing objectives and strategies by providing guidance to business team in identifying key business issues and opportunities related to Innovation

  • Continuously enhancing our Insights capabilities via technology and process improvements (e.g., virtual reality, tech-enabled behavioral observation, test & learn pilots, etc.)

  • Manage supplier selection, activity and work flow to ensure cost efficient, accurate, and timely completion of projects

  • Develop and manage the research budget

  • Guide the professional development of an Insights Manager and collaborate with a range of cross-functional partners including R&D, IT, Design, Sales, Finance, Strategy, etc. to develop and commercialize innovation

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Minimum 8 years of experience as a consumer research professional

  • Experience in setting and leading insights agendas, deep expertise in research methodologies (quantitative and qualitative), and possesses the ability to apply research to address business challenges

  • Expertise in data analytics is a plus

  • Ability to translate consumer understanding to insight; bias for action

  • Strong influencing, communication and storytelling skills

  • Managerial experience

  • Strong strategic thinking and creative problem solving

  • Collaboration / teamwork skills; experience in matrix environment(s)

  • Excellent project and budget management skills

  • Bachelor's Degree required; Advanced Degree preferred

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc.)

What's Your Role? * Design and execute energy learning agenda from the Mountain Dew AMP Energy strategy, leveraging, but not limited to, the following techniques: * Deep application and iteration of consumer energy segmentation and consumer empathy around energy consumers and gamers * Packaging testing * Commercial application (conjoint tests, etc.) * IRi and other big data analytics * Quick-turn consumer survey design * Communications testing (qual and quant) * Lead and execute our energy innovation pipeline, from white space territory identification and early idea concept testing to new product execution. Familiarity with BASES testing is a plus * White space identification within the energy and gaming space * Early-stage concept testing * BASES Snapshot through BASES II * Data mining from social media tools and attribute-based ingredient studies * Consumer co-creation * Passion for or curiosity about gaming culture; bring outside culture to PepsiCo * Monitor and diagnose brand and category business needs * Leverage syndicated data sources to understand business issues and opportunities within the energy category * Understanding of IRi or Nielsen scanner data a plus Qualifications/Requirements The successful candidate will have the following traits: * Great team player; willing to both lead an agenda and roll up her/his sleeves to support when needed * Excellent communicator with a bias toward simplicity.
