Position Summary

As Marketing Excellence (ME) Operations Manager, you will support the ME talent strategy and business priorities. You will lead all career development programs and resources, work with leaders to deliver strategic projects, and execute operational activities that keep our organization running efficiently and effectively.

The team

Deloitte's Marketing Excellence team combines the power of Deloitte's brand with the most inspired marketing techniques to produce business results for our clients. From events to social media to digital strategy and execution, we elevate the Deloitte brand and strategic positioning, delivering a cohesive, consistent experience. The team brings together creative and technology skills, business insights, and industry best practices to develop innovative creative assets that engage our clients. It also executes with agility and measurable performance through best-of-breed solutions, centralization of key information and operations, and optimization of data, tools, people and process.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee one full-time resource and one part-time/temporary resource in executing programs to empower and equip 700+ marketing professionals for career success, including:

  • Talent and career development strategy

  • Career Central DNet site, and related tools, communications, and optimization efforts

  • Annual career development lunch and learns

  • Marketing Horizons/MyGigs program

  • Manager Advisory Council (MAC)

  • External Conference Reimbursement Program

  • External association relationships

  • Marketing Excellence L&D responsibilities (in coordination with ME Learning Champion):

  • Annual L&D strategy and related reporting

  • Marketing-specific learning programs, including the Master Class series

  • Marketing Excellence Cura group page

  • Relationship with Talent Development to promote firmwide training opportunities

  • ME Strategic Resource Management (in coordination with ME SRM leader):

  • Onboarding process for Marketing Excellence new hires, transfers, and contractors

  • Lead operational processes that help our organization run effectively and efficiently, including:

  • Monthly Business Review meetings between ME leadership and Business COOs

  • Executive briefings/scorecards and leadership meetings

  • Annual FY planning (e.g. goals, budget management)

  • Compliance (e.g. timesheet, expense, travel)

  • Support Marketing Excellence Chief of Staff and Chief Talent Officer to design and implement transformational projects that improve operational effectiveness and make an impact across ME, CMG and the Businesses; projects will evolve based on current needs of the organization, but some examples of past projects include:

  • Agile talent transformation

  • Account Based Marketing

  • Global campaigns lessons learned

  • Creative Development/Creative Services integration

  • Job title refresh

Qualifications

Project Management Skills

  • Exceptional project management skills, including ability to proactively monitor the progress of multiple projects, develop work plans, obtain necessary input/approvals, secure resources, communicate with stakeholders, and oversee project execution to meet/exceed stakeholder expectations.

  • Ability to advise and influence stakeholders at all levels of the business to achieve strategic objectives

  • Collaborates with colleagues on and across teams, both virtually and in person

Leadership Skills

  • Experience managing others, and demonstrated ability to effectively lead and coach a small team

  • Challenges the status quo by proactively identifying opportunities and developing solutions to address them

  • Effective at managing ambiguity and solving complex problems

  • Skilled at gaining consensus when differing viewpoints are presented

  • Maintains a strong network and demonstrates ability to bring the right people to the table at the right time to enhance delivery

Professional skills

  • Ability to work effectively and independently with minimal supervision

  • Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills; must be able to grasp and communicate complex ideas

  • Exhibits a high level of professionalism with a strong executive presence

  • Demonstrates agility and ability to navigate multiple competing priorities

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office - especially PPT, Excel and Teams

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or related field

  • 8+ years of relevant business operations or project management experience; talent/career development and or marketing experience a plus

  • Prior experience working on a virtual team within a highly matrixed organization, preferably for a global corporation or professional services firm

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future

  • Travel up to 5% (while 5% of travel is a requirement of the role, due to COVID-19, non-essential travel has been suspended until further notice)

As a member of the team, you will: * Develop, maintain, and drive prioritization of all marketing and communications campaign activities for TH&S; plan and manage marketing budgets for campaigns and develop KPIs to assess campaign success * Work closely with the National Sector Leader, functional sector leaders, and Center for Industry Insights in shaping a content and insights agenda aligned to key TH&S business issues * Support relationship development with executives of priority industry associations, aligning collaborative efforts to TH&S' key business issues * Assist with articulation of value propositions for new market offerings and develop supportive marketing strategy and objectives * Set strategy and craft compelling strategic briefs (business case) for proposed marketing and communications campaigns; drive approval process for campaigns with key leadership * Engage our internal agency on the successful execution of campaigns; oversee the on-time and on-budget delivery of campaigns * Lead strategic engagement in flagship industry initiatives and events * Collaborate with other Consumer sectors on broad, cross-consumer topics to develop complementary strategies, amplify messages and maximize impact * Develop compelling messages and tools to engage account teams in delivering market insights to executives Skills and Competencies: * Ability to grasp a deep understanding of the TH&S sector, its sub-sectors and their corresponding strategies, with a focus on the core business issues * Ability to make connections in highly matrixed environment, with an eye towards integration * Strong persuasive communication skills; able to gain consensus through influence and pivot when warranted * Executive presence with a client-centric approach and a demonstrated ability to take initiative * High level of comfort with ambiguity and fluid priorities; ability to manage multiple, complex priorities-must be both flexible and adaptable * Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills * Strategic and innovative thinker * Ability to work in a virtual environment Qualifications: Required: * 15+ years of experience in marketing, with a focus on strategy and planning * Deep understanding of marketing planning with an ability to execute tactically * Deep understanding of integrated marketing and communications strategies and how they come together to provide measurable results * Previous experience in B2B marketing; professional services experience is strongly preferred * Previous experience leading and developing a team of both direct and indirect reports * Superior Microsoft Office skills (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); familiarity with integrating various technologies to support marketing efforts * Undergraduate degree, ideally with a focus in Marketing * Limited immigration sponsorship may be available * Travel up to 10% (while travel of up to 10% is a requirement of the role, due to COVID-19, non-essential travel has been suspended until further notice.)
