Marketing Department Assistant

for the

Washington County

Dixie Center

FULL TIME WITH BENEFITS

$15.98 per hour

Performs a variety of technical and administrative support to all aspects of the Dixie Center Marketing Department, assisting to expedite the development and execution of marketing plans, strategies, projects, and materials.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Prepares lease agreements for events at the Dixie Center; reviews the agreements in detail with Director of Marketing; and makes adjustments with addenda as necessary. Assists marketing director with scheduling of local events, inputs information into scheduling program. Provides daily support to department staff to ensure a smooth and efficient workflow; and serves as a marketing resource for direct mailing responsibilities.

Maintains accounts receivable to include collection of advance deposits, final payment of events, decorator packet services, service booth. Enters into Peachtree accounting program, prepares and processes regular deposits to county treasurer. Sends monthly statements to keep collections up to date and current; balances cashbox and maintains cash supply in cash box.

Working Knowledge of bookkeeping and basic accounting; personal computer operations and various program applications such as Word, Excel, Crystal Reports, Scheduler Plus, Power Point, Peach Tree Accounting and ACT etc.; telephone etiquette, various office machines, i.e., ten key, copy machine, etc.; of modern office practices and procedures; of grammar, spelling and punctuation; of modern filing systems related to alphabetical and numeric, paper and electronic files. Some Knowledge of purposes, principles and practices of municipal government, public relations concepts and practices; interpersonal communication theory and methods; principles of salesmanship, hospitality industry practices, general budgeting; food and catering industry.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduation from college with an associate degree in business, marketing, hospitality management or related field;

AND

  • Two (2) year's experience in communications, public relations, or related field , at least one (1) year of which is preferred to be directly related to the convention business.

OR

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.
