We're looking for a creative wizard to join our good-natured team of copy connoisseurs and grammar hawks. Is your (not-so) secret superpower the ability to tell stories that lead to clicks? Does your writing unerringly hit the sweet spot between "informative" and "fun to read"? Do your dreams have character counts? If you'd like to help people find their focus through organized productivity, we want to meet you.
All about the role
Evernote's marketing team communicates with millions of people every single day. We help people capture their thoughts, organize their work, and unclutter their lives.
As a valued member of our in-house creative studio, you'll partner with designers, product marketers, and social media mavens. Your crisp, concise words will drive many types of content, giving a global audience the tools to focus on what matters most, take better notes, find information faster, and get stuff done. And you'll do it all alongside a friendly team in a dynamic environment.
Specifically, you will:
Develop an in-depth knowledge of Evernote and our audience, mastering our voice and our values. We're here to make people's lives and work better. What's not to love?
Bring our product marketing and brand initiatives to life across formats and channels. We're talking email marketing, landing pages, social media, notifications, blog posts, video, paid digital, skywriting, messenger owl, and telepathy (okay, maybe not those last three).
Run with creative briefs and brainstorming sessions, cooking up concepts and pitches. Collaborate on campaigns, condense new features into compelling, clickable messages, uncover fascinating customer stories, tackle growth experiments, and engage with our global community of productivity experts.
Weave magic in an Agile Scrum environment. We use tools like Jira, Google Drive, and (of course) Evernote to carry drafts through multiple rounds of editorial development.
Edit content from teammates and freelancers, delivering thoughtful feedback in working sessions and online. We care about our content and continuously seek to improve it together.
All about you
You're an ace wordsmith with 4+ years of copywriting/editing experience, including at least one year in a tech marketing role. As a natural storyteller, you know how to write for a variety of audiences. You can boil down complex technical concepts into clear, concise, optimistic language for real humans, and you can find the value propositions and emotional hooks lurking in a set of messaging bullet points. But that's not all:
You have exceptional attention to detail, consummate grammatical skill, and a logical mind, but you value readability above all. You know the rules of writingand when it's OK to bend them a little. We love that.
You have great short-form chops. Your emails and tweets are to die for. But you're versatile enough to handle articles and video scripts, too. And you've got the portfolio to prove it.
Your flexibility and mad organizational skills mean you can manage several projects at once without losing your way.
Your strategic sense suggests ways to optimize and reuse content across platforms and at different stages of a customer's journey.
You are collaborative, curious, and open to giving and receiving constructive edits and feedback that will improve your colleagues' writing (and your own). We prize empathy, not ego.
You're (tastefully) witty. We love a sharp sense of humor.
You have a B.A. in Communications, Marketing, or English, or equivalent experience in a related field. And you're always learning more.
You may or may not be an Evernote user today, but you get what we're all about, and that excites you. Experience with Jira and the Agile process is a plus.
