The purpose of your role as a Marketing + Communications Content Specialist

As a Marketing + Communications Content Specialist, you will plan, research, develop and write sales and marketing copy in line with organizational objectives. Write copy for a variety of projects (including print, web, mobile, video and social media), working closely with the marketing + communications team to brainstorm ideas, create concepts and develop messaging. Thorough research and interviews will be required to understand the copywriting needs of the business.

Overall Messaging & Strategy:

  • Prepare integrated communication strategies, based on business and marketing plans, as directed for the construction, service and controls divisions

  • Implement and manage various communication channels that help drive marketing and communication objectives as a part of the complete communications program

  • Execute communication projects as directed and monitor performance metrics

Copywriting:

  • Writing copy for promotional literature, public relation material, marketing collateral, white papers, media advertising, websites and internal and external publications designed to boost brand awareness and increase sales

  • Edit and adapt work to address feedback received by internal and client teams

  • Assist with social media content creation and postings

  • Conduct high-quality research to understand the needs of the business and target audiences through online searches, reviews of existing research, interviews with subject matter experts and in-person meetings.

  • Edit and proofread copy as needed

  • Collaborate with project leaders, sales leaders, executive leaders and other Marketing + Communications team members, etc. from concept development to delivery of final project

  • Revise copy based on internal team and leader feedback/direction

Public Relations:

  • Work within a creative team environment to develop conceptual and public relation approaches that meet corporate objectives

  • Design, plan and conduct public relations programs that create and maintain a favorable public image of the organization

  • Work with marketing assistants to coordinate and/or partner with foundations, non-profits, government agencies or other community organizations to enhance the public image of the organization

  • Assist with engagement activities including client surveys, client recognition, groundbreakings and dedication events

What we're looking for in you

  • Bachelor's degree required in English, Communications, Journalism, or related

  • 3+ years of professional copywriting experience (construction industry a plus) with a solid portfolio of work

  • 3+ years of proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat Pro

  • 3+ years of proofreading experience

  • 3+ years of experience managing media relations

  • Familiarity with AP style

  • Ability to quickly execute time-sensitive projects with excellence

  • Knowledge of construction, architecture, mechanical engineering or related field preferred

Primary Responsibilities: * Develops and manages corporate strategy, change initiative, safety and other culture-related communications strategies and plans, with primary responsibility for COVID-19 communications * Manages the content for the COVID-19 section of the corporate website and the company intranet. * Creates compelling, on-message and brand-compliant written and visual content for internal, and sometimes, external channels. Content may include Ecolab.com and intranet content, social media posts, by-lined articles, blogs, media pitches, presentations, speeches, etc. * Collaborates with key internal and external partners on communications initiatives and campaigns. * Participates in bi-weekly content creation, weekly huddle meetings and other key meetings as needed, to provide updates on progress, perspectives on future content and pitch new content. * Ensures timely and effective execution of internal communications strategies across various platforms (e.g., intranet, email, digital signage, etc.) * Serves as primary channel manager for assigned employee communications channels, reports on channel metrics, and identifies and recommends opportunities related to these channels. * Assists with other communications initiatives as needed.
