Definition

Definition: Under the General supervision of the HHS Director, the marketing and communications administrator will be responsible for the overall planning, promoting, coordinating, implementing and evaluating activities, public outreach events and programs for the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community Department of Health and Human Services. Works collaboratively with the executive team and departments to plan, promote, coordinate, implement and evaluate programs and services that serve as marketing events to enhance and promote all HHS programs. This job class is treated as FLSA Exempt.

Examples of Tasks

1.Leadership & Mentoring:Responsible for coordinating and integrating all technical, professional and administrative work assignments and projects on a daily basis to maintain an efficient and effective workflow to meet organizational needs.

  • Assume a leadership role in staff development, assuring oversight and mentorship are available.

  • Provide training to staff as it relates to initiatives, events, and promotions.

  • Professional development of staff, increasing staff competencies and training new staff.

  • Develop and implement policies and protocols for RPHC Marketing & Communications.

  • Oversee the recruitment and retention of qualified, competent personnel.

  • Timekeeping and coordinating employee schedules, conducting performance evaluations and performing administrative disciplinary procedures in accordance with policy, as necessary.

  • Keep current with professional knowledge and proficiency through continuing education, staff meetings, training and conferences, etc.

2.Promoting and advertising special clinic events to the public

  • Organize initiatives and plan public awareness events

  • Distributing promotional material, responding to public queries and comments

  • Coordinate the design of promotional material and distribute in online and offline channels

  • Network with other departments and to drive awareness of HHS services

3.Gather customer feedback to inform HHS Leadership

  • Join social media groups and professional platforms to discuss industry-related topics

  • Monitor Clinic website and social media pages and address public queries

4.Develop effective corporate communication strategies

  • Establishing identity and brand awareness of Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community HHS.

  • Draft content (e.g. press releases and annual report) for mass media or SRPMIC website

  • Coordinating the design of promotional material and distributing in online and offline channels

  • Produce marketing copy for HHS website

  • Craft and send regular newsletters with HHS updates

  • Manage internal communications (memos, newsletters etc.)

  • Track return on investment (ROI) for marketing campaigns

  • Actively manages the HHS Marketing and Communication annual budget to meet expectations.

5.Develop and provide communication campaigns, which may include social and online media, print media, direct mail, and other multimedia.

  • Liaison with media and handle requests for interviews, statements etc.

  • Foster relationships with advocates and key persons

  • Facilitate the resolution of disputes with the public or external vendors

  • Assist in communication of strategies or messages from senior HHS leadership

  • Works with HHS Director to develop and monitor employee engagement, for example, employee recognition program.

6.Performs other job-related duties as assigned to maintain and enhance departmental operation.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics:

  • Knowledge of the history, customs, culture, traditions and government of the Salt River Pima- Maricopa Indian Community.

  • Knowledge effective communication strategies

  • Knowledge of MS Office; photo and video-editing software

  • Knowledge of project management principles

  • Skill in copywriting/editing, web design and content production

  • Skilled in effective communication both oral and written.

  • Ability to manage and organize communication initiatives and plan events

  • Ability to assist senior HHS leadership with communication strategies or messaging.

  • Ability to gather the necessary materials for communication strategies or events.

  • Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with colleagues, subordinates, supervisors, health care professionals, Tribal officials, representatives of resource agencies, patients and Community members.

  • Ability to work as a productive member of a team.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Journalism, Advertising, Communications, or related field. Masters preferred.

Experience:10 years in Marketing or related field. Experience in leadership; writing and editing projects; and brand development.

  • Portfolio of relevant previous projects and experience working in a Native American Community or Enterprise highly preferred.

  • Media relations experience working for a Native American Community or a community organization, elected official or other entity focused on Native American issues preferred

Equivalency: Any equivalent combination of education and experience that will allow the applicant to satisfactorily perform the duties of the job may be considered when filling the position.

Underfill Eligibility: An enrolled Community Member whom closely qualifies for the minimum qualifications for a position may be considered for employment under SRPMIC Policy 2-19, Underfill

Special Requirements

May be required to work beyond normal work hours including nights, weekends and holidays. Employees in, and applicants applying for, jobs providing direct services to children are subject to the "Community Code of Ordinances", Chapter 11, "Minors", Article X. "Investigation of Persons Working With Children".

Prior to hire as an employee, applicants will be subject to drug and alcohol testing. Will be required to pass a pre-employment background/fingerprint check.
